My Husband Rocks: Best Compliments Ever

Yesterday was emotionally draining for both of us – we were taking a post-dinner walk, and in the middle of everyday conversation we began to argue about something we often argue about – the difference is this time we actually made a huge leap in our marriage – realizing things about each other we hadn’t known before. I won’t go into details, it doesn’t really matter. But here’s the point for this post anyway, at the end of the talk, we were both feeling a bit emotionally drained, but he added one last thing:

“I’m not a fundamentalist, you know that, but there is one thing which I feel fundamentally about, and it will not waver: That I love you.”

Or something like that, but seriously, guys, isn’t that just the sweetest thing you’ve ever heard? It’s kind of the basis of our marriage. We might disagree and we might not always understand each other, but – we love each other, fundamentally, immovably. I love that.

So that’s pretty much the best thing a man could ever say right? Well, no, later that night he actually topped that if you can believe it. We were watching Roman Holiday, a favorite movie of mine, that he’d never seen, and I commented at one point when it was clear how much he was enjoying it, “can you see why I love Audrey Hepburn?” And he said, “Well obviously, she’s just like you.”

Now I was flattered, thinking he meant her personality – it’s a little quirky and I could see what he was saying, but people – he meant in appearance. My husband thinks I look like Audrey Hepburn, but better. Now, while I’m sure he’s probably just crazy, I’ll take that compliment any day – in my personal opinion, Audrey is like one of the most beautiful women who has ever graced the face of this planet.

I was like on top of the world last night after that. My ego has maybe never been higher. It made me want to lose weight in a GOOD way – like, “If I look like her now to him, imagine how good I’d look if I could take off some of this weight…”

I don’t think I can properly explain this any better, but the point is the title of this little meme, my husband ROCKS! Does yours? Tell us about it, then link up with Katy Lin @ The Great Adventure & her My Husband Rocks meme.

Happy Weekend. :)

Aloha Friday: Fall TV

So as you all probably know by now, In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. She’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

So my question this Friday is:

What fall tv show are you MOST looking forward to, and why?

I’m very torn right now between answering Grey’s Anatomy or Bones. When the seasons ended, I’d have told you Grey’s Anatomy with no hesitation whatsoever. But this summer my husband and I started renting the Bones shows due to sheer boredom and got SO hooked on them that we went from, “Sure this looks ok?” to “DO WE HAVE A NEW BONES DISC TO WATCH TONIGHT?????” to “Oh Zacky, how COULD you?

And see, here’s the thing – my husband tolerates my Grey’s obsession and watches it with me, but Bones I think I can safely say he genuinely loves about as much as I do – although there are few tv shows that he genuinely gets wrapped up in the way I do – he just isn’t that kind of person.

So what’s my answer? Sorry, still a tie. I am avidly looking forward to Grey’s just as much. (BTW, we watch a lot of other shows, too, we’re big tv junkies in the normal tv seasons – hey it’s cheap – but those are the two shows that I’d be livid if I missed and no I’m not joking)

How about you?

Friday Finds: Dreaming About Future Reads…

I just found this meme over at Should Be Reading:

What great books did you find or hear about this past week? Share with us your FRIDAY FINDS!

Either leave a comment with a link to your blog post about your Friday Finds at Should Be Reading, or share your ‘finds’ in a comment here (and / or there) if you don’t have a blog.

My FRIDAY FINDS this week (according to GoodReads.com):

Gorgeously Green: Every Girl’s Guide to an Earth-Friendly Life (Paperback) by Sophie Uliano, which I found over at The Mother Load. I’ll admit it’s mostly the cover that made me want to read this – like, “You mean I can be green and somehow look gorgeous and skinny, too?” and I actually think that might be the point of the book, bonus points, am I right?

The Wind in the Willows (Paperback) by Kenneth Grahame, I read about on Reading To Know, during the Children’s Classics Carnival at 5 Minutes for Books. After reading her review I ran into my son’s room, found a selection of it in one of his “storybook collection” books and read said collection to him. The poor little 2 year old was terribly confused but seemed “happy mom was happy” but now I really want to read the whole book as I’m guessing the 2 chapters I read could not possibly be the whole story. But seriously, the writing style is just so terrific and so “me” I’m wondering why I hadn’t read it sooner… But if you read my post in the Children’s Carnival, I think we all know the answer…

Living Out Loud (Spiral-bound) by Keri Smith, I heard about recently at Book Zombie and I really want to get it, but it looks like a “must buy” book so it’ll likely have to wait awhile, but I love the idea of for once reading a book that has me Doing something instead of just reading about doing things and then continuing to do nothing…

Wreck This Journal (Paperback) by Keri Smith – also read about this on Book Zombie, on the same post, and ditto. This one seems perfect for anyone who likes the idea of a “journal” but is terrible at keeping up with them… you know, like me…

Life Laughs: The Naked Truth about Motherhood, Marriage, and Moving On (Hardcover) by Jenny McCarthy my bestie just bookmarked on GoodReads, I’ve read her other “Laughs” books and love them so I’m definitely planning to read this one, too. Belly Laughs and Baby Laughs are the books I like to give all the mommies to be for baby showers (along with all the itty bittie onsies, socks, and newborn diapers… tee hee) – and yes I am that nerdy friend who buys her friends and their children books for Christmas and Birthdays… oh yes, that’s me.

Revelations (Hardcover) by Melissa de la Cruz is the next book in a series I’m totally crushing on – Blue Bloods was the first. It combines Vampire books, love stories, historical fiction, religious fiction and young adult fiction all in one terrificially fluffy good read. Did I mention <3 ? I’ll admit, sometimes reading this series I feel a bit too old to relate to the main character, a little too wise, but it doesn’t take long until I’m sucked in and (hahahah get it – sucked in – oh I crack myself up) and dying (::snickers::) to know what happens next…

The Four Man Plan: A Romantic Science (Hardcover) by Cindy Lu I just heard about this morning over at Happy Healthy Hip Parenting. For anyone who’s had a bad relationship or several. This book is one I’m highly anticipating reading soon… ish…. And apparently math is involved? Seriously, maybe I’ll get a math lesson for free? Count me in. (haha get it – count? ohhhh)

- edit -

I find it necessary to add these two books that I JUST found because they look AMAZING

When Will There Be Good News? by Kate Atkinson: (another book my bestie just added to her queue) : “On a hot summer day, Joanna Mason’s family slowly wanders home along a country lane. A moment later, Joanna’s life is changed forever… On a dark night thirty years later, ex-detective Jackson Brodie finds himself on a train that is both crowded and late. Lost in his thoughts, he suddenly hears a shocking sound… At the end of a long day, 16-year-old Reggie is looking forward to watching a little TV. Then a terrifying noise shatters her peaceful evening. Luckily, Reggie makes it a point to be prepared for an emergency…
These three lives come together in unexpected and deeply thrilling ways in the latest novel from Kate Atkinson.”

The Amnesiac by Sam Taylor (I read about on the VSL – very short list) : “When twenty-nine-year-old James Purdew returns to England from his home in Amsterdam, it is to discover what happened during three earlier years of his life that he cannot recall. What he finds, in an old house with a tragic history, is a nineteenth-century manuscript that begins to seem less and less like a work of fiction and more like the key to his own lost past. Memory and amnesia, fiction and reality, destiny and randomness, heaven and hell all converge to form an engrossing gothic story that is sure to appeal…”
