Are You On MomDot.com?

I recently submitted an entry to get listed on momdot.com – I know some of you may be wondering, “What is momdot.com anyway?” Well for those of you not already in the know, momdot.com is kind of like the yellow pages for mom blogs, chock full of great resources, reviews and listings of the very best in mommy blogging. This is what they have to say about who they are and what they are about:

MomDot is a mom blog listing site that is run by mommy bloggers, trisha, alicia, and bridgette. They run contests weekly, reviews on awesome (and not so awesome) products for family and kids, and talk about their lives. But more importantly, they feature bloggers and mom boutiques to give them an avenue to get thier name out there, also assisting in google links! You can head out and list your blog for free and talk to them about doing an interview about you. Head on over and see what MomDot is about!

If you’d like to see your blog listed on momdot.com, just click here for details.

I’m pretty excited to be listed and was so pleased when I got my email telling me my link was up, and when I emailed them back to tell them that in between now and sending in my request I’d gotten my own domain, Karen emailed me back immediately to tell me she’d change the information for me! So, be sure to check them out and tell them mommablogsalot.com sent you!

Eureka!

For the moment things seem to be running much more smoothly, hence the three blog posts in like two minutes thing… Or else I can’t count… But anyhow, the dh said something about upgrading the something after googling the other thing and then threw in an OR ELSE which meant that if what he was planning to do didn’t fix things he’d find me a new host.

So right now everything is all fast and zippy and I’m in love. So if you haven’t checked out my blog’s new domain, now would be the time because things are WORKING. Who knows how long that will last. Maybe forever? Maybe tomorrow I can find something new and non-blog-related to complain about. Like the new workout DVD coming in the mail. That could be fun, right? I could stop inhaling chocolate to attempt to relieve my server stress and get back to my diet!

So, I guess I’ll try my luck one more time and hit that publish button and see how it goes, but before I do,

Thank you sweetie, it seems to be working now!

Okay, here goes nothing…

I’d Like To Thank My Parents, Caffeine, and RSS Feeds

I’m an award winner! My lovely bloggy friend Patrice @ Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman just awarded me with my very first ever bloggy award – how cool is that? So here’s it is, The Diamond Award:

Pretty huh? So the rules for accepting this award are pretty simple – first I mention it on my blog (check) then I award it to seven other bloggers! That should be both easy and hard at the same time – easy to think of seven brilliant bloggers, but HARD to narrow it down. But I’ll do my best.

  1. Jen @ Daily Mish Mash will be my first awardee. I am some kind of addicted to her Friday Eye Candy and love her blog in general. Brilliant blogger, yeah that would be her.
  2. Jenni @ Jiggety Jigg always cracks me up and has shown me at least one GOOD thing about Sarah Palin (which isn’t easy) – her SHOES. We can all appreciate good shoes, and Jenni is superb at things like that – you know, seeing the good in everyone and having fabulous taste in shoes. Brilliant.
  3. Karen @ Write From Karen hosts this weekly meme, Monday Mornings, which I always look forward to. She is funny and witty and so smart. She’s been very vocal lately about fact checking where this election is concerned which is so important. Karen is one of my very favorite bloggers and so deserving of The Diamond Award.
  4. Andrea @ Chocolate Fingerprints (formerly Simple Things): Andrea recently hosted this excellent Babywearing Carnival where she interviewed the makers of several fabulous baby carriers, charities involved in babywearing and even did giveaways! She also just got her own self hosted blog with her own domain name – which kind of inspired me to do the same. What better way to say thank you than give her this Diamond Award which she is so deserving of.
  5. Dana @ Supernanny Where Are You? is another of my favorite bloggers – you might know her weekly meme, Top 5 Tuesday – a few weeks ago she even let me choose the theme for that week’s meme which was so much fun if not completely nerve wrecking trying to pick a good one! She’s also always telling the best stories about her family and her job as a mail carrier – which is always always amusing, if you don’t believe me just check out this post. She recently switched to cloth diapers which I’m so planning to do with our next baby, so I’ve been loving all her posts about the transition.
  6. Kat @ Sunshine and Lemonade is one of my favorite blogs to peruse – she writes about everything and it’s always fun, hilarious and a general good time. Also, little known secret, I love her blog style. Sooooo fun and simple. Someday I hope my blog can be half as pretty as hers.
  7. Jennifer @ Snapshot runs one of my favorite blogs (in addition to her own) she’s the editor of 5 Minutes For Books. So everytime Tuesday when I’m blogging about kids books or classic books or what’s on my bookshelf, she’s basically the mastermind. And another Jennifer – seriously I think half my blogroll is comprised of Jennifers of some variety. Great minds have the same name?

So, in closing, thank you Patrice for this wonderful award. And thank you to my readers – you are my inspiration, my reason for blogging, and I couldn’t do it without you! (Well okay, I could, but it wouldn’t be as much fun…)

Sorry If You Visited Me And Found NOTHING

I’m writing this post in TextEdit (notepad for the Mac) because my server is down. If you’re reading this then my husband was probably able to fix it… for now. Is that really excusable? I’ve had this little domain and server situation since Sunday night and already it’s just down? Never mind the fact that when it’s up I’m down because it’s sloooooooooow as sin (How slow is sin, anyway? Anybody know?).

I love my domain. I love my blog. But I’d love it more if my server weren’t crap. My husband said something about how people in California probably love my blog because it’s hosted over there or something and that makes it quicker. Mom, if you’re reading this, how’s the speed? Things good?

But I’m over here on the opposite of California and I can’t get service. Which means I can’t blog. Which means I have three posts (including this) stock piled on my desktop waiting for the green light – waiting for my server to serve me.

I’d like to ask all my fellow self hosted bloggy friends – who serves you? How are you doing this? Why does your blog load in like 3 seconds while mine takes anywhere from 30 seconds to never? Do you like your hosting company? Also, who designed your blogs? Because they are beautiful. And wonderful header by a friend aside, mine still looks like I did it myself. Any tips? Any free tips? Besides, “Go back to WordPress.com you n00b,” because if you’re really gonna talk like that, maybe we shouldn’t be friends anymore.

I like being able to edit my own CSS. I love that my blog address is like 10 characters shorter now. It’s cute. I love it. I’m all professional. But it’s no fun when I can’t publish my posts because my server hates me… Soon I’ll lose all my traffic (you know what’s still left of it) because nobody will be able to load my blog – after a few hours of the waiting game, they’ll say, “What was I looking for again?” and they’ll LEAVE. I kind of want to leave, too, so you know, I’m not judging you.

I’ll be here… waiting… waiting for my server to find itself again and let me post this…

(mostly) WW: The Pumpkin Patch

So like, seemingly forever ago (or you know, Saturday) we took the boys (MM and his little bestie SB) back to the Apple Orchard to play on the playground and pick a pumpkin or two. And I spent most of that time trying to get a good “picking pumpkins picture” because I’m like that. Here’s how that went…

I Owe My Unborn Children An Apology

I’m so sorry, future daughter of my imagination and creation of MakeMeBabies.com:

Apparently our cute baby making skills have dried up after all our good luck with this one:

I thought that given all the good looking siblings your father has, that your odds would be better than this. I had no idea you’d be stuck with your mother’s forehead and the face of an old lady. So I appologize, on the off chance that I somehow manage to concieve you that you’ll be stuck with such a good looking big brother, for he’ll only make it that much more obvious how very ugly you are… But you do have a pretty name, that should count for something.

But if it makes you feel any better, your unborn baby brother didn’t fare much better:

I’ve been seeing this everywhere lately, but most recently on Allie’s blog @ The Pink Potpourri, who had much better luck than me!
