What Do You Love?

27 Aug

On love thursday this week Chookooloonks talks about how she found what she loves. Read her entry for the whole description of her process, which I found brilliant. I thought I’d make an attempt at doing the same thing and figured this blog was as good a place as any to start writing, so here is my first draft of the things I love – I’m focusing on more than just what I love to do, and thinking of anything I love – with an idea of values and self awareness being the end goal and not a career… Feel free to do the same thing on your blog and comment if you do so…

  • I love to read.
  • I love to write.
  • I love editing things I’ve written or that other people have – proof reading kind of thing.
  • When I worked for my college newspaper, I loved planning and organizing things for meeting, making signage for the office, like explaining office etiquette or how to log into the server, that kind of thing.
  • I love to eat – especially desserts.
  • I love baking.
  • I love my children.
  • I love hearing my children laugh / see them smile / knowing they are truly happy.

  • I love chai tea.
  • I love root beer floats.

  • I love when Fall TV starts so I can watch new current episodes of shows like: Greys Anatomy, Fringe, Bones, America’s Next Top Model, How I Met Your Mother…
  • I love watching cooking shows so I can drool over the recipes and then track them down online so my husband or myself can make them.
  • I love connecting with friends online.
  • I love playing puzzle games and taking quizzes on Facebook – preferably things that make me THINK, not just mindless nonsense.
  • I love kittens and puppies.
  • I love pretty flowers.
  • I love when the jeans FIT – or when they are too big and I have to buy a smaller size or tailer my old ones.
  • I love feeling like I’m in shape – exercising with my husband by taking walks together.
  • I love imaginary house hunting.
  • I love girls night outs but don’t get them very often (basically never now).
  • I love to play card games and board games.
  • I love having people over to play games, chat, eat good food.
  • I love telling my son bedtime stories or just reading to him in general.
  • I love babywearing.

Help Momma Decide What To Read Next

27 Aug

I finally finished reading 10-10-10 (yay!) which I’ll review soon, I promise. I’ve got several books on my pile right now but since two are for reviews, I figured I’d start with one of them first. But which one? If you wanna be a real doll, head over to my review blog and read the descriptions I’ve posted of both books and leave your comments on which book sounds better to you / which one you’d read first. I read the first chapters of each book last night and both sound interesting to me which is exiting but not at all helpful in a decision making kind of way. :) Help a bloggy sister out?

*Update*

As my husband and I flipped through the two books last night we realized The Inner Peace Diet is much more detailed and involved – it is a seven week process with a lot packed into each week – which might be a little easier to do a month from now when BB is a bit older. Also I realized that that book was sent as an afterthought add-in from the publisher of The Baby Fat Diet so I’m going to read and review The Baby Fat Diet first since it was the original book requested and it’s a bit more free form in style of diet.

love thursday: look who came to visit

27 Aug

Dan’s family came to visit us last weekend and meet the baby. We showed them around town and it was so nice to spend time with them, get some cute pictures and reconnect. I had a really hard time narrowing down which pictures to publish – there are so many that even in collage form the pictures would be too small to view appreciatively and no way was I just going to post them all one by one (one handed no less!). But I think these pictures pretty much sum up the weekend – which was, as ever, full of love. MM was over the moon being able to see his grammy, papa and aunt and uncle and I know Dan was over joyed to see his family again. He’d lived in the same city more or less is whole life, so it must be very strange to be so far from his family now – and strange for them, too, I’m sure. I hope we can see them again soon – we’re already plotting the likelihood of being able to fly home for a weekend this winter – cross your fingers for me, as I’d love to see my family again, too!

Love Thursday is the brain child of Chookooloonks. Check out her post today for more thoughts on love, and the comments section for other people playing along.
