it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

22 Dec

nutcracker wise men?

oh christmas tree

Jen @ Our Daily Big Top blogged about her favorite Christmas ornaments today. Her kids are a bit older than mine so she’s got a lot more “first baby” ornaments and things her kids have given her. I don’t have many of those yet (although I look forward to them!) but I thought I’d show you some of my  favorite ornaments anyway – the ones that always make me smile or remind me of my own childhood.

yarn angel

I have a few of these – they’ve been hanging on my Christmas trees for as long as I can remember…

stain glass angels

and where the lovely shimmery yarn angels went, these were sure to be found, too

its not christmas without a stocking

It’s not Christmas without a stocking – this ornament makes me smile.

santa baby

We got this one from my husband’s aunt – so it’s new to me but no less loved.

more angels Jen?

More from my childhood – it shouldn’t take you long to notice…

I have an obsession

I am pretty infatuated with angels.

For my grandma it was Santas – she has them everywhere.

I want to be just like her when I grow up…

But I want my “everyone knows Jen loves” collection to be angels.

For sure.

What does Christmas look like in your house?

nightstand: december

22 Dec

What's On Your Nightstand carnival @ 5 Minutes For BooksIt seems impossible that it’s time for another Nightstand post already – didn’t I just write one like last week? But the dates they don’t lie and my last Nightstand post… yup it was on November 24th. Today? December 22nd. Where does the time go?

Odd Mom OutLast month I was in the middle of reading The Hunger Games, just discovering the whirlwind that is a Suzanne Collins novel. I’ve since read that and the sequel, Catching Fire and have just started reading Odd Mom Out by Jane Porter. This is my first Jane Porter novel but I can already tell it will not be my last. I’ve been eying the rest of her books online, mapping out which ones I want to get my hands on first.

But first, I’ll have a  few other good reads to attend to. This is what I anticipate I’ll be reading into the New Year…

What’s on your nightstand this month?
