Outside my window: it’s very pretty out these days. The trees are all starting to bud, the grass is a lush, lush green and the sun is shining. We had a beautiful weekend, with some strong wind on Saturday but just perfect on Sunday. Walking through the neighborhood lately, I am just in love with it. It’s amazing how well we picked out this neighborhood one year ago, knowing so little about the area – if I could go back and do it again, I’d pick the same place. I hope when we get a house that it’s in the same neighborhood.
I am reading: The Spellmans Strike Again by Lisa Lutz (squee!!!) and Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat by Michelle May – both of which I’ll be reviewing at Mommas Review when I’ve finished them. This of course means that I finally finished Eat, Pray, Love – which I’m hoping to review tomorrow.
This weekend we: did everything! Saturday morning we hit the farmers market (first outdoor market of the year) and did our usual grocery shopping thing and spent some time outside at the playground. Sunday we took the kids to the zoo (sooooo nice having a free zoo – I hope to take advantage of that a lot this summer) and the playground next door and had lunch at a cute coffee shop. Then we headed to the mall and Walmart to price out camping gear (we’re going to need a bigger tent and I need a sleeping bag) and we got a swimsuits for MM and myself and a few cheap summer clothes for the baby.
In the kitchen:
- Monday: Tex Mex Chopped Salad
- Tuesday: Spaghetti with Sauce
- Wednesday: Mac and Cheese w/ frozen veggies
- Thursday: Mexican Rice Bowls
- Friday: Breaded Shrimp with Rice and Veggies
Today: we are relaxing after an exciting weekend. The baby picked up a head cold yesterday in between all the fun and exciting – and I need to call maintenance in a half hour because one of the shelves in our refrigerator broke off – woo hoo. I guess that’s one good thing about apartment living – that’s pretty much their responsibility.
I am really excited about: camping. I’m not sure how long it will be until we can go since we need to save up for a new tent but I’m really looking forward to it.
We also: started talking about our 5 year anniversary next summer. Dan wants to take me to New York City and show me around the places he visited when he was there for work. We’d plan to fly to MA and drop the kids off with our parents then take a train or bus into NY and stay the night, then back to MA to visit family while we’re there. I’m not sure if it will be financially feasible but we’re going to try. We both agree that if it comes down to a house or that trip, we’ll go for the house and do NY another year.

One last thing I want to tell you about before I go: Little BB is in the “dadadadada” stage. He’s all we talk about, basically, when she’s in a good mood – we just sit and talk about how wonderful daddy is – and she just loves to cuddle him. He spent most of the weekend walking around with her in our Moby wrap and she couldn’t have been more thrilled about it. With MM, the “mamamamamama” stage followed shortly after so I’m trying to focus on looking forward to that, and then the eventual moment in time when she likes both of us.
