Meet the Family

Jen E (momma aka me)
Stay at home momma to a 7 yr old son & a 3 year old daughter. I'm a book-a-holic who also enjoys baked goods (a little too much), photography, travel & writing.

Daniel (dh, love of my life)
Daddy, McHubby, & engineer. "tall dark & handsome, likes to lean on things." Literally excels at everything, from cooking to woodworking, geekery and fitness - he's My Jack of All Trades!

MM (My Monkey, 7)
My son is a first grader this year and told me recently that he likes first grade better because instead of playing games they learn more things. Clearly my son! When he's not geeking out with schoolwork, he's likely busy with Cub Scouts, riding scooters with his best friend or watching Doctor Who or Phineas and Ferb.

BB (Baby Blueberry, 3)
My daughter is a pretty typical three year old - she is a big girl / little girl / princess / dictator depending on her mood and whether she's had a nap. She loves peanut butter and jelly, juice boxes, Minnie Mouse and Olivia, will climb ANYTHING and knows no fear whatsoever. She is possibly the most beautiful creature I've ever laid eyes on and I'm pretty sure she knows it.

Momma Just Read

Where'd You Go, BernadetteWhere'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Epistolary novels are always a bit of a gamble, in my opinion. Breaking away from a traditional narrative can make it hard to get immersed in the story, but Where'd You Go, Bernadette did a great job providing a story you'll find yourself lost in way into the late hours of the night. I found myself relating to Bernadette a lot, which was a little bit scary for awhile there, but it also kept me rooting for her and her family. This is a great look at mental illnesses both perceived, ignored and real - and a story that shows the complexities of families, marriage, neighborhoods & the world. For a "book of letters, emails and memos" this book packs a pretty big punch.
