Obsessing over: the gorgeous desk that my wonderful husband has been building me in secret for months. I honestly had no idea – I knew he was working on a wood working project in the basement and that it was a surprise but that was nowhere near to being on my list of possibilities. <3 Still needs to be finished staining and then drying but in a couple of weeks I’ll have a truly beautiful new desk.
Feeling: mentally exhausted still. Between allergies and just trying to get caught up on life and keeping up with the day to day grind of activities, I am feeling right now like I’ll never feel caught up.
Working on: laundry and catching up on my internets and then lunch time. The kids are blessedly playing nicely together for the moment.
Thinking about: things I’d still like to do with the family this summer and wondering when to try fitting it all in.
Reading: Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner, about “four very different women intertwine in unexpected ways in this new novel by bestselling author Jennifer Weiner (In Her Shoes; Best Friends Forever). Each woman has a problem: Princeton senior Jules Wildgren needs money to help her dad cure his addiction; Pennsylvania housewife Annie Barrow is gasping to stay financially afloat; India Bishop yearns to have a child, an urge that her stepdaughter Bettina can only regard with deeply skepticism until she finds herself in a most unexpected situation.” I’ve only got about 100 pages to go and it’s been a really good read. The plot has continually surprised me with turns I wasn’t expecting and characters I didn’t think I’d like. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.
Anticipating: walking my first 5K with some friends this Saturday morning. It’s only 3 miles but I’m still nervous about finishing – or rather concerned that I’ll be exhausted as 2 miles tends to be my sweet spot but I’m hoping that having friends walk it with me will keep me going and hoping I’ll be surprised by what I can accomplish.
Listening to: the sounds of children playing not so nicely… glad this post is almost over, I may need to go intervene…
Wishing: there was no such thing as calories. Decided to start tracking my food again today and of course that never makes me happy.
