Obsessing over: finding all the components for the kids’ Halloween costumes. Rather than going for something that comes easily in one package, the kids (with the tiniest bit of goading from their parents) have decided to be the 11th Doctor Who (Bowties are cool!) and a young Amelia Pond. Which means for MM I need to track down suspenders and a bowtie (which I think I can get for a great price at H&M) and a tweed jacket and maybe some loafers. We already have plenty of dress shirts, a good pair of pants and a sonic screwdriver he can use. (Yes we’re nerds, shut up).
For BB we have the red cardigan and a pair of old rainboots that we’re planning to spray paint red as a last resort before shelling out a lot of money for another pair just to get them in red, though I’ve been checking thrift stores just in case. So what’s left is an old fashioned looking nightgown and a red knit hat and maybe an old fashioned suitcase if we can find one small enough for her to carry easily.
Feeling: almost healthy!! I feel like I should knock on wood and do a happy dance at the same time (without injuring myself of course). The World’s Longest Cold seems to have finally worked its way mostly out of my system. Time to start exercising again now that I can mostly breathe okay!
Working on: nothing huge to be honest, just trying to keep up with the daily grind of chores that are like the song that doesn’t end. Finish the first verse and then start all over – rinse and repeat. Oh, the exciting lives of mothers.
Thinking about: a million things – stuff for MM’s cub scouts pack, Christmas lists (yes already, shut up), an upcoming weekend trip we have planned and cleaning that needs to be done. And cookies.
Reading: two books at the same time which is so unlike me, but I honestly could not choose between reading Divergent by Veronica Roth and Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman so I am now reading them both and enjoying them both a lot. I’ve found Practical Magic a bit more slow going (and very different from the movie btw) and Divergent’s main character occasionally seems very naive and dense to me – but on the whole I’m still really loving both.
Listening to: BB watching Minnie Mouse while I type this up – then we’re both heading out to the coffee shop with friends. Yay!
Wishing: that I could have a Tardis to help me get stuff done a little more efficiently / skip ahead to the fun stuff.
