Sunday Social: February 10, 2013

Hey guys! I’m joining in a new-to-me blog carnival called Sunday Social. Check out Ashley or Neely‘s blogs to grab a button and answer the following fun questions!

This week’s theme is all about your childhood /  teenage years:

1. What was your first car?
A Toyota RAV4 – I believe a 1996 maybe ’94. It was that dark hunter green that they seemed to be making and selling in spades and I loved it. It got excellent gas mileage and had a fantastic turning radius, basically the same turning radius as my next car, a Toyota Corolla (in the same color). I have lots of fond high school and college memories in my RAV from driving around with friends to moving in and out of my dorm or going on mini-road trips. I could fit most of my dorm room belongings inside it in one go (couldn’t see out the back, but that’s a different story, right?)

2. Who was your favorite childhood teacher?
In high school I had the most fantastic science teacher – everyone loved him. He had a terrific sense of humor and would use jokes to help us learn the facts he was teaching us… sometimes slightly dirty jokes lol – he knew to appeal to teenage humor and it totally worked.

3. Were you involved in any sports/extracurricular activities? Share pictures if you can!
My extra-curricular activity in high school was pretty limited. I was in a group called Health Troupe that did skits and presentations to teach about health issues. Extremely dorky, I know. I also did the tiniest bit of theater. In college I ran the student newspaper, far more impressive!

4. What was your favorite birthday party?
So one of the downsides to being born on Christmas Eve is that my birthday parties have almost always been slightly overshadowed by a really popular holiday that you guys have probably heard of.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had lots of happy birthdays, just no major parties that stand out in memory.

5. Who was your teen celebrity crush?
There were a lot of crushes that came and went like JTT and Rider Strong but my biggest celeb crush was definitely AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys.

I was loyally crazy about him for almost all of my teenage years.

6. What show/movie did your parents not allow you to watch?
You know, my dad was never a big tv / movie banning kind of parent. If it was questionable, he’d watch it with me (sometimes we both regretted that lol) but truthfully it didn’t come up all that often.

How about you?
