Who Is Teacher Susie?

Anybody else watch Sid the Science Kid on PBS? If so, then you know who Teacher Susie is right? The world’s coolest school teacher who is always even tempered and on the ball and apparently was a pop star in her past life? Well what I want to know is who is the voice behind Teacher Susie’s jam sessions, because her voice is some kind of incredible. It’s vaguely reminiscent of Josie and the Pussycats and by that I mean Kay Hanley, formerly in Letters To Cleo who actually did most if not all of the vocals in the 2001 movie that I’m admitting right now that I loved. Shut up.

My point, and I do have one, is that lately I’ve been having this conspiracy theory notion that Teacher Susie IS Kay Hanley. Or at least should be. Or at least WILL BE the next Kay Hanley only people will know who she is. I mean, she’s good right? I’m not crazy? She could have a career outside of the Jim Henson family?

So Teacher Susie, I’m calling you out! Show yourself and be proud of your music because at least one tired slightly deranged SAHM thinks your music is good. Will there be a Sid Soundtrack at the very least?

@ Melissa : I’m glad I’m not the only mommy loving this show and the music really is so good. Like shockingly good. 🙂

My daughter is obsessed with Sid the Science Kid. I actually think I am too. I totally get into the songs & my daugther starts to dance & sing along with them (i love how she imitates Gerald’s voice–it is pretty funny). I was just watching it when i left for work today (so now i have all of the songs in my head…arrgghhh!).

@ Andrea : I saw that on IMDB but was thinking maybe the voice in the music was different than the voice when she’s talking if that makes any sense. Well if it is Donna Kimbell she’s got talent!

You know I’m the Queen of Google, and though that does sound like Kay Hanley… it seems it’s not. It is actually (According to IMBD) an actress by the name of Donna Kimbell. Donna was also in Jarhead and Patch Adams in small parts. See her here:

I loved your guess though, it was very logical.
