So is anyone else planning to write a novel next month? Have you ever tried? I’ve “tried” but have yet to finish. But I’ve always been in college during previous attempts and did you know there are a lot of big exams in November? In hindsight it wasn’t my best idea. Or I’m the hugest procrastinator and excuse maker ever. One of those.
But so I’ve had this story idea flitting through my head since like um a year ago. It’s changed about eighty gazillion times since then so that if I told you about the first version and the current version you probably wouldn’t believe me when I told you they were related. Maybe I’m only pretending they’re related. But if I don’t start writing soon I don’t think I ever will and what’s left of this story might disappear altogether.
The nice thing about letting it flit through for the past year is that I think I have the core of this story down. I’m not going to “forget” it just yet because I’ve been thinking about it on and off for a year now. Maybe that means this is the “one” – that soon I’ll be the next Stephenie Meyer or Libba Bray or Janet Evanovich or whatever? People will KNOW my NAME and I’ll probably need to start a new blog or start mentioning who I am on this blog. Because I’ll be famous. All thanks to NaNoWriMo.
Or at least, I’ll have fun this month pulling my hair out and trying to do something productive for myself for a month and pretend that my English Degree really does mean something now because, “Look, I’m writing a novel!”
I’ll post the details of my story at some point maybe. I have this weird fear that someone will steal my idea like it’s really that brilliant. So maybe I’ll just include a word count or something or a sentence snippet until it’s done and copyrighted?
Anyone else doing the NaNoWriMo? What are you writing about? Wanna be my writing buddy?

@ Nancy : Yeah that definitely makes sense – I’ll have to look further into that for sure! Thanks!

The “official” NaBloPoMo is November, with prizes given out and stuff. They also do a sort of theme posting each month, but I haven’t participated.
I figured since you do post so much, that it wouldn’t be hard for you to do it every day, and you might even win something!

@ Nancy : Does this run every month? It would almost be ridiculously easy for me, I’d just have to commit to blogging on weekends, too. lol Looks cool though!

No way, I don’t have smidgen of writing talent.
Last year I did NaBloPoMo though, and I intend to do it again this year. http://nablopomo.ning.com/

@ JC Martin : I just added you as a buddy – I’m mommablogsalot – that should be easy to recognize. 😛
Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever had a story idea this good before during a NaNoWriMo so here’s hoping that helps. Now the hard part is NOT writing the story until then! haha

I did NaNo in 2006 and failed miserably. But I went back for a second round in 2007 and succeeded. So it really just depends on the type of passion you have for the story you choose to write for the challenge. I would love to add you to my buddy list. I’m know there as JC Martin.
I don’t post my story ideas up either. I will give little bits and pieces here and there. I even do the word count thing. Good luck!

@ Andrea : Definitely go for it! What’s the worst that happens, you don’t get a novel out of it? It’ll still be a fun new experience. I’m pretty pumped about this year as I really think I have a solid story idea for once, but even if I didn’t I don’t see a reason not to this year. there’s no infant to care for, I can write during naptimes, etc. and I’m ready!! I’m so glad you’re going to try it, too!

I think I’d like to try this for once. I’ve always wanted to write and have the same dreams of fame as you do. But the reason we are besties is our similiarities hence my unability to get my thoughts onto paper. Or computer. Lol. But it’s worth a try!! So I say “Yah!” I’ve decided to stop making things scare me (Like the other moms at school) And just go for things.
