I have noticed more than once since starting this blog that there are a LOT of Jens in blogland – we go by a wide array of variations, like all Jen’s – there are Jennifers, Jens, Jenns, Jennis, Jennies, Jennys and probably more. Some of my favorite bloggers are Jens which should really come as no surprise, because let’s face it, Jen’s rock. We are known for being awesome, am I right?

But I got to thinking that all of us Jens – we could take over the world if we joined forces – or at least one very random blog post. So I’m calling you out, Jens of Blogland – I want to know just how many of you there are!

If you are a Jen and reading this, COMMENT and let me know.

And ask all your Jen friends to comment, too, possibly by posting this badge on your own blog and proclaiming your Jen-ness to the Blogworld. Tell your friends to tell their friends. Let’s start a movement. Let’s see how many Jens we can find out here in the Blogiverse and then all meet up here on this post for a Jen Party – Bring Your Own Jens.

We can all wear “Hello my name is Jen” name tags (just print the one at the top of this post and tape it to your shirt – don’t worry, we’re all doing it, too) and talk about how many famous Jen’s there are in history and Hollywood and how we may or may not be just like them… Like Jennifer Aniston (would you date a famous musician ten years your junior?), J Lo (would you J Lo your name? Why or why not?), Jenny McCarthy (have you written humorous yet touching books about your children and made even more millions from it?), Gweneviere (a variation of our multifaceted name – have you ever had an affair with your husband or boyfriend’s best friend?)…

Are you a Jen? Do you like your name or loathe it? How many Jen’s were in your classes growing up? Did your Spanish teacher ever make you change your name for class because there were too many Jennifers? Are you super strict about what variation of Jen you go by? One N or two? If you are a Jenny/i/ie do you prefer the ie, i or the y? Why? Would you name your daughter Jen? How many Jens do you know? Comment here and tell me all about yourself and your Jen-ness.

ps: Does anybody else think of this snippet from Across The Universe anytime you see or hear the phrase “I want you”? Just me? Do all Jens inherently love this movie? We really should.

This is a great blog post!

I’m a Jen. Apparently, Jennifer was the most popular name in 1970 and Elizabeth was the second most popular. I got both. I usually go by “Jenny Beth” with a “y” not an i and 2 n’s.

In the South, many girls go by 2 first names not just one. In elementary school, I had a teacher give me an “N” in conduct because I would not reply when she called me “Jenny” because no one calls me just “Jenny.”

My family calls me Jen. Many friends call me JB. Whenever my husband actually calls me “Jenny Beth” I think I am in trouble because that is what my mom would call me when I was in trouble as a child.

I would consider naming my child a variation of Jen (Jenna). In high school my bff was a Jen also.

My blog is Jen’s Genuine Life.

@ Jen : I like Gwen, too – but I’m not sure it would have fit me. At this point in life I think I can safely say that I am all Jen. It fits. 🙂

Are you a Jen? Yes, I mostly go by Jen. The only person that calls me Jennifer is my mother in law. My grandmother and ex-boyfriend were the only ones who called me Jenny.

Do you like your name or loathe it? I’m Jen-neutral. It is frustrating that it is so popular but I do kind of like the sound of it.

How many Jen’s were in your classes growing up? Tons–I’d say 3-4 in High School and 6-7 in College. It was CRAZY!!

Are you super strict about what variation of Jen you go by? I’m not really strict about it but I’m a one N girl.

Would you name your daughter Jen? Never

How many Jens do you know? I still have quite a few Jen friends. I would say about 4 or 5 in real life and even more in the blog world.

Interesting fact: My dad was really pushing for Gweneviere. As a child, I was so glad that my mom won the battle, but now that I am an adult I kind of wish that I was a Gwen. Much more unique!

Do you like your name or loathe it? What I love about it is that I don’t have to repeat it — when I say my name, people understand. Of course, I loathe that it is VERY common in my generation.

How many Jen’s were in your classes growing up? I went to small schools and therefore had small classes so occasionally was the only Jennifer. College was different; there were lots of us.

Did your Spanish teacher ever make you change your name for class because there were too many Jennifers? Didn’t take Spanish, so it wasn’t a problem!

Are you super strict about what variation of Jen you go by? One N or two? I used to be a two-N Jen, but seemed like more people used one N so I went to one. Now it bugs me a little when people use two. Not a big deal though.

If you are a Jenny/i/ie do you prefer the ie, i or the y? Why? My mom’s maiden name was Jenny, which was why I was named Jennifer. Oddly, “Jenny” never really fit me. As an adult some of my friends started calling me Jenny and I guess I went with a Y because of my mom’s name.

Would you name your daughter Jen? I doubt it.

How many Jens do you know? Nowadays, not so many. Lots of bloggers though!

    🙂

Hi, my name is Jennifer…people call me Jenni! 😀

I don’t mind my name so much now but I wished it was something different than everyone else’s in school!

I think my worst year was 2nd grade when I was one of 4…

    I’m a two “n” Jenn.

Do you like your name or loathe it? Eh, I’m pretty ambivalent about it now. Growing up, I hated being one of so many. Doesn’t really bother me anymore.

How many Jen’s were in your classes growing up? Always at least one other!

Did your Spanish teacher ever make you change your name for class because there were too many Jennifers? I passed on Spanish and took German; there weren’t enough students in that class to make multiple Jens an issue.

Are you super strict about what variation of Jen you go by? Not strict, necessarily, but I prefer two.

If you are a Jenny/i/ie do you prefer the ie, i or the y? Why? I was a Jenny as a teenager – always with a “y”

Would you name your daughter Jen? No no

How many Jens do you know? To many! Now? Really only a few. I expect to be introduced to a few more here!

@ Jen : I think I used my middle name for Spanish but I don’t remember – it would help if I remembered any spanish at all, but all I really remember is it wasn’t spanish for Jennifer – lol – thanks for playing along!

How many Jen’s were in your classes growing up? I graduated in a class of 36- in that class 6 of us were Jen’s

Did your Spanish teacher ever make you change your name for class because there were too many Jennifers? Yes- so I decied to use my last name!

Are you super strict about what variation of Jen you go by? No- but it usually is one

If you are a Jenny/i/ie do you prefer the ie, i or the y? Why? Can’t do the Jenny at all.. either Jen or Jennifer
Would you name your daughter Jen? Nope
How many Jens do you know? To many! Friends with eight other Jen’s, grandma’s name is Jen and my sister-in-law’s name is Jen…

I like my name but it was pretty common growing up. I always had at least 1 other Jennifer in grade school. High school probably 5…in all variations. No, my Spanish teacher did not make me change my name but saying Yennifer always cracked me up.

I was always Jenny growing up. Jennifer was used only when I got in trouble so still have a hard time using it. Jenny became Jen in college…guess my friends were too lazy (or drunk) to add on the extra syllable. I became Jen in my professional life because I felt that associates would not take me seriously as a Jenny (plus with my married name it kind of rhymes). But now I’m Jenny or Jen. I answer to both.

No more kids so can’t pass the name on. Don’t think I would even if we had more kids. I know about a handful of Jens now…not as common anymore. I definitely don’t hear it on the playground or in my kids’ classrooms.

Wow who would have thought I could say so much about my name?

I am not a Jen but man, I knew a lot growing up. My sorority had probably 10 Jens in the 3 years I was involved. They all went by their last name, or some variation of it.

    Are you a Jen? Yes

Do you like your name or loathe it? I loathe my name.

How many Jen’s were in your classes growing up? In my Gym class there was 7 of us. The teacher made us use our last initial, some times they had a nickname for us. I was “big hands” because I could palm a basketball with ease.

Did your Spanish teacher ever make you change your name for class because there were too many Jennifers? No

Are you super strict about what variation of Jen you go by? Yes. I only want to be called Jennifer. My mother calls me Jen and my in-laws call me Jay. I sometimes forget to answer them when they call me, that’s how much I can’t stand being called anything other than Jennifer.

One N or two? If you are a Jenny/i/ie do you prefer the ie, i or the y? Why? Two N, one F.

Would you name your daughter Jen? NO

How many Jens do you know? A few. I have an aunt named Jennifer as well.
