That Insta Mother’s Day Life.

It’s almost Friday and I never got around to blogging about Mother’s Day weekend because part of being a mother means being too busy to do things in a timely manner and also what’s for dinner? And I’m bored. While the kids are busy with homework, here are some snapshots from the weekend:

I celebrated a good friend’s birthday this week with a trip to the theater to see a production of To Kill a Mockingbird. I surprised her with a little gift and birthday card which I spent a little time sprucing up a few days before by googling how to draw a fox (one of her fave animals). I used this video which is part of a series of drawing tutorial videos:

We spent Mother’s Day creating our first vegetable garden which means my husband spent an exorbitant amount of time designing and building these wooden boxes and then installing them in the backyard. We went to a local nursery and picked out a few vegetable plants that looked both relatively easy to care for and potentially tasty. The kids were super helpful half the time and then the other half of the time they looked like this:

Except less posed and more rolling around in the grass and complaining that they were hot and tired and bored and “I know, let’s make dandelion stew!!!!” But then every now and then they would perk up to help with exciting things like dumping all the soil into the boxes or learning how to ride a lawn mower:

Of course it turned out he wasn’t heavy enough for the lawn mower to acknowledge his weight and it wouldn’t run – but the intention was there!

It was a beautiful weekend and we can now say that we have a vegetable garden.

What have you been up to lately?
