In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that the locals take it easy and look forward to the weekend. Kailani at An Island Life has turned that into a blogging carnival. Anyone can participate by asking a simple question for readers to answer. You can check out all the participants here.
I will warn you, brevity has never been my strong point, so this might get more long winded than is typical of an Aloha Friday in principle, but I want to play along so I will at least try to make this post shorter than usual, kay?
So this week my Aloha Friday Question is:
“What is your child’s favorite movie and how old are they?”
If you don’t have a child, you can also tell me your favorite childhood movie or favorite current children’s movie if you still watch them (or are in fact a child?).
MLM’s favorite movie goes back and forth between Elmo in Grouchland and Curious George: The Movie – I’d really love to get some new movies for him to see but I’m struggling with appropriate movies for his age (he just turned 2 this April). Some movies I thought initially he might like, completely flopped – for instance, The Jungle Book – I’d forgotten how terribly boring a lot of this movie is and also how SCARY some parts are, i.e. giant snake nearly suffocating young Mogli – ack! That movie watch ended quickly.
Some movies I’m currently considering but not completely sure about:
- Shrek
- The Incredibles
- Cars
- Wall-E
Any tips?
Sorry, I know this post was supposed to be short and really just a question but my question I guess was longer than one sentence…. anyway, if you want to play, answer in the comments and / or head over to An Island Life and join in – don’t forget to post a question on your own blog!

My older daughter is 6 and lately she’s been watching Power Rangers. My favorite has always been Finding Nemo!

My step kids are grown, 26 and 24.
I personally like Finding Nemo the best but no other animated movies. People think I’m weird that I have never really liked them. If I had to pick my favorite childhood movie, it would be 101 Dalmatians.

We’ve got Land Before Time – I watched them a lot when I was a kid (I’m 25 so that’s right around the same time frame) but my son doesn’t seem into it yet – he does kind of think dinosaurs are cool but he didn’t understand what was happening at all.

Our children are grown however we have our grandchildren over regularly. When our oldest grandson was little he’s favorite was Shrek. He was only about a year old and knew the movie scenes before they happened.
Right now our two year old grand daughter cannot watch Monster House enough. Not my favorite movie but she loves it. Go figure!

My oldest son is almost 5. Right now he is more into watching Noggin when given the opportunity, not movies. A new favorite movie is Alvin and the Chipmunks. I have never heard him laugh so hard. He also likes Curious George, Madagascar, and Finding Nemo. Today we bought some new options home from the library to try as well.
