Today my little man turns four years old. It’s almost kind of amazing that it’s been four years since that crazy day he was born – that he’s not my six month old baby anymore – he’s 1,460 days old! (Unless my math is really bad)
This year in particular has been a whirlwind for us.

This year he left behind friends and family and moved halfway across the country to a new state in a new apartment (did you know that in the four years of MM’s life he’s lived in four different places?). He’s changed bedrooms twice since moving to Wisconsin (more on that later), started potty training, taken his first ever class at the Y, become a big brother, started learning to write his ABC’s, became fascinated with drawing and coloring, discovered that there is more than one channel on the TV, saw Niagara Falls for the first time (it was my first time, too!), got his first tricycle, saw a favorite book become a movie, learned to bake banana bread, went trick or treating at the zoo and became a secret agent! In no particular order.
This year my little guy became a little man – no longer babyish, not a toddler, he’s a kid now – a big kid.
He’s met each change in his life, each obstacle, with a smile and positive outlook. Of course we’ve had our share of tantrums (three is NOT an easy year – be warned) but really, really. This kid is incredible. He is a bounce backer – an adjuster and a trooper.
He’s a pioneer and an explorer – always curious and seeking out more – he delves headfirst into a new or unknown situation and embraces it.
He’s an incredible, compassionate, caring big brother – the apple of his sister’s eye. Always eager to help her and show her new things and watch over her.

He’s a comedian and a joker – always making us laugh.
I could go on and on, I mean, I’ve got 80 pictures that I’m flipping through – the best of the best of his past year – and I want to post them all (hence the collage) but before this post becomes enormous I’ll just say…
Happy 4th Birthday MM!
Love,
Mommy

I’m a bit late but Happy Birthday MM! 3 is my least favorite age. I try to warn people but they don’t seem to believe me until they go through it themselves. 4 is much better though!

Happy birthday MM. It is nice to see the whole year like that in so many pictures. He really has achieved so much in one year.

Happy Birthday MM! 4 and 5 is the best. The tantrums die down and the questions of “why” and “how” and “what” begin. Love the big brother see new born sister shot. Niagara Falls is great too!
