I Know You've Been Waiting, But I've Been Out Drinking Coffee, Dreaming About Camping and Looking For a Good Video Game…

I know I’ve been kind of a bad bloggy friend these days – how lazy am I that I didn’t even post a wordless wednesday picture? It’s not like I’m not taking pictures every day or anything, sheesh. But I’ve been thinking lately that posting just for the sake of putting something out there, when I have nothing to say… is maybe lame? This blog isn’t a job and I’m not about to treat it like one, at least not today. So yeah, I might not post quite as ridiculously often as you are all used to, but maybe that’s a good thing? Maybe less is more. Maybe now my posts will be breathtakingly poignant and awesome now. A  girl can dream, right?

Anyway, today I had my very first Jen-planned meetup with the meetup group I joined last fall. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that I recently became an assistant organizer in the group, in an effort to get more involved – sometimes I need to just throw myself headfirst into an activity and when I went to an impromptu meetup the other week at a coffee shop, I had such a good time that I said, “We should do this more often.” And then I volunteered to be in charge of making that happen. So now I’m the organizer for the Coffee Chat meetups and like I said at the beginning of this paragraph, today was my first Jen-planned get together.

We met at a local kid-friendly coffee shop, I ordered a cafe mocha, and it was a really good turn out. 6 other people came, some with kids and some without, some I knew pretty well, others I was just meeting for the first time. The kids were really well behaved and we had a good time. I’m looking forward to the next one.

So I really want to go camping. I’ve only been once, when I was in college (and that’s a whole ‘nother story about almost setting the tent on fire but having a good breakfast the next morning in Woodstock, New Hampshire) but I’ve been semi-eager lately to go as a family. The weather is beautiful and camping is fairly inexpensive – we have most of the supplies we need and lots of camp grounds to choose from. And of course my Boy Scout Husband is totally on board, so maybe mothers day weekend we’ll venture out into the great outdoors. Cross your fingers for me that it goes well!

I’m in the market for a new game for my DS. I want to get a collection of word games, sudoku and the like. I think I am leaning towards this one, called Puzzler World which as a pretty big variety of puzzles but I’m also intrigued by Crosswords DS which also has good reviews but it only has 3 kinds of puzzles and no sudoku. And yes I am aware that I’m a giant nerd. Anybody have a great word puzzle game for the DS that they’d recommend? I also really want to get a Harvest Moon game and the next Professor Layton but those are a bit more expensive (I’m aiming for $20 or less right now) and they are more of a story-driven game where I’m just looking to replace the Puzzle section of the newspaper really.

So how are you? What’s new?

I’m in the same blogging boat..which you probably already knew that. I’m at the point where I don’t even have the energy to read others blogs much less blog on my own. Of course I did a crash of the UBP10 to add more blogs to a list I already can’t keep up with. I’m thinking I may take a week off entirely.

    Any who…
So proud of you for just getting out there and taking care of business of meeting people and organizing play/mommy dates!

I just can’t keep up with blogging every day anymore. Life just gets in the way. I catch up with people when i can these days.

Camping sounds awesome. I am hoping to go camping too this year, but we might go locally with a lot of our friends.
