It really does seem like just yesterday. Like I blinked and 365 days just flew by. So much has happened in your first year. Like all babies, you rolled over, learned to crawl, learned to say little sweet nothings like mama and dada. You have started trying to walk, climb the stairs like an old pro and eat almost all the same table foods we do now.

I’m realizing more and more that you are no longer my little baby, but my little girl. A toddler. When the heck did that happen? I know that I am your mother and so I am biased but nevertheless I just have to say that I am so proud of you. You are such a smart little one – and we are surely in trouble!

Sadly you seem to have a small head cold today – such an injustice to be sick on your own birthday – but you aren’t letting it keep you down. Snot covered and all, you are still a little ball of pure energy, making all of us laugh along with you, even if it is a weak, exhausted laugh on my end. You appear to be quite the morning person Miss BB, as you have been waking us up around 5:30 or 6am for so long it’s starting to feel normal. I do hope that’s a phase sweet girl.

You’ve got a lot of milestones ahead of you. I know your first year has probably seemed crazy intense (for sure, it was!) but I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say you really haven’t seen anything yet. Soon you will be really walking and then running. You’ll be talking a mile a minute, probably like – tomorrow. We’ll teach you colors and shapes and counting and long division (well, daddy can teach you that). So much ahead of you – but you have really come so far!

And most importantly – chocolate cake is in your very near future!
