Yesterday was a day for geeking out. I posted a cute video of my 4 year old telling me a Phineas and Ferb bedtime story, swooning with mommy love at his creativity and may I just say, fantastic memory. It really impresses me how much of the show’s details he has absorbed and memorized – and this is a trait that carries through to many other areas. Songs we listen to a handful of times. A story from the library that he’ll memorize verbatim after two readings. This is one smart cookie I’m dealing with (some might say the nut doesn’t fall far from the family tree. I might just agree that we’re all a little nuts around here).

The video got a lot of fun feedback from family and friends on my Facebook page and a few comments here on the old bloggy-do. Perhaps most noticeable is two comments – one from yesterday and one from today – from the freaking producers of Phineas and Ferb, Jeff “Swampy” Marsh and Dan Povenmire. Seriously you guys? How did my little blog even manage to register on their radar? And how cool are they to comment? Mother pride swells higher and the geeking out commences.

Comment of the week though goes out to MacKenzie who wrote:

“Ok- I’m geeking out!  I just realized who wrote the comment above me!  Ahhh!  How cool for you!”

Because dude she took the words right out of my mouth! How did she know that like minutes before I wrote on my Facebook wall, “One of the producers of Phineas and Ferb, Jeff “Swampy” Marsh just commented on my blog. Totally geeking out right now!”?

This is what I love about the internet – the community it has created is so huge, you guys. We can approach and be approached by people that you wouldn’t even imagine having the opportunity to talk to before the net. This isn’t the first time. One of my first forays into reviewing, a slightly extatic review of Leslie Sansone’s Walk At Home DVDS (after so many terrible workout DVDS I was more than a little giddy to find something that worked for me!) actually got noticed by someone on Leslie’s staff and I was sent some more great product by her to review – and this actually in some ways led to the creation of Mommas Review (little known fact).

Since then I’ve had the opportunity to review products and books by people that I just love – and to sometimes hear directly from them about the review! How freaking cool, right? Totally geek-out worthy!

You can follow your favorite celebrities on Facebook and Twitter these days or read their blogs and they are actually there telling you about their days and their thoughts and who they think is awesome. When could you do this before the internet without becoming a celebrity yourself or a groupie I guess? It’s huge, guys! We are all connected through this world wide web and anything is possible!

And I know some of this is really just a mask for further marketing, but you know what? It’s genius. The internet has managed to make these celebrities who we geek out over into humans. Into people who are touched by our love for them and maybe they geek out when they see their names on our blogs while we’re geeking out – and we all just geek out together collectively. I’m just saying. It’s awesome.
