Starting the year off with a BANG! Mandatory New Years Resolution Post

It’s a new year and for millions of people that means setting a New Years Resolution. I’m pretty happy with my life, but there are always things to work on, so I thought I’d set a couple of Life Goals for 2011.

I know most resolutions are made to be broken, but here are 7 things I would love to do this year:

  1. I’m gonna fill you guys in on a sad secret. I’ve gained back 15 of the pounds I worked so hard to lose. It breaks my heart a little bit to type that, but it’s true. So this year, I want need to eat better and get moving and ideally lose at least 20 pounds, though I wouldn’t say no to 30 or 40. As far as exercise goes, I’d like to commit to 3 days a week of calorie burning, 30 minutes a day ideally.
  2. Get MM fully, completely, absolutely potty trained before Kindergarten. I think we are really close on this one, but I want to see this thing finished once and for all!
  3. I had so much fun in 2010 with my 365 project and I am absolutely going to do it again – 1 picture every day in 2011!
  4. I’ve already mentioned that I want to read more classics in 2011 and made a list of 30 titles I’d love to read this year. That’s a lot of classics in one year though so truth be told I’ll be thrilled to knock off 10 of them in 2011.
  5. Classics, aside, I’d like to plan to read a bit more in general. Last year I read 32 books. This year I’d like to make that 40!
  6. This one is in the kitchen! I really want to master some more culinary techniques and would love to do more food blogging here. I’d like to try at least one new recipe a month, some will be big things like “Jen makes her own bread from scratch!” Others may be less impressive like, “Jen makes a cake or cookie she’s never tried before.” Either way, if I can add 12 new recipes to my culinary tool belt by the end of the year, I will be delighted.
  7. Lastly, I am going to try to accept when I sometimes don’t meet my goals and CELEBRATE when I do. Life cannot be planned to a T, not all of these things are going to happen – but I want to do my best, embrace each day and meet 2012 content with the self progress I’ve made and at peace with any of the lofty goals which may have fallen by the wayside.

Do you have any goals for 2011? I’d love to hear all about them in the comments section below!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
