52 Weeks (9 of 52): Vilas Zoo Continued

52 Weeks is a year long challenge for YOU, hosted by Forever in Blue Jeans, to be in a picture once a week for 52 weeks. We are always the ones behind the camera, this is YOUR chance to get out in front and be in the pictures with our family. We are glad you are joining this challenge. More importantly your family will really enjoy having you in the picture. Thanks for playing along! Oh, you can just jump in now with 1 of 52, you’re not getting off that easy! Now go take a picture!

Yesterday I posted pictures of Dan and MM at one of the zoos in Wisconsin. It’s called the Henry Vilas Zoo and it’s free admission and open year round! Parking was a bit of a bear (hehe, get it?) but MM had a blast – this was probably our best zoo trip to date as he is finally at that age where he’s like, “Holy cow – it’s animals!” and he had preferences about what he wanted to see, etc. His favorites from this trip were the bears (obviously), monkeys, penguins and the giraffe but there were lots more animals than that, although it is a rather small zoo, I was very impressed over all. I definitely recommend it if you are ever traveling in the area.

52 Weeks: More Birthday Pictures (8 out of 52)

Yesterday I posted some pictures from my grandmother’s 70th birthday party last week. These are two more pictures from the party that I managed to sneak into.

Today is our last day on the road to “Dream State.” We should be pulling into town tonight and moving into our new apartment tomorrow morning. This post was scheduled a week in advance so I’ll still be missing in action and missing you bloggy friends like crazy! Have a great day!

52 Weeks: Mothers Day (7 of 52)

52 Weeks is a year long challenge for YOU, hosted by Forever in Blue Jeans, to be in a picture once a week for 52 weeks. We are always the ones behind the camera, this is YOUR chance to get out in front and be in the pictures with our family. We are glad you are joining this challenge. More importantly your family will really enjoy having you in the picture. Thanks for playing along! Oh, you can just jump in now with 1 of 52, you’re not getting off that easy! Now go take a picture!

These pictures are from Mother’s Day which we spent with Dan’s family (we saw my parents the day before and head breakfast in town, but I didn’t take any pictures that day). Here are two shots from that day, both of which I managed to find my way into. In the first shot, you’ll see some interesting Christmas decorations on the roof – this is part of a very long story involving an ongoing “feud” with the next door neighbors. We thought we’d take this opportunity to snag a good Christmas picture early before taking it down to plot the next step. The other picture is just a generic shot of MM and me.

Take Me Back Tuesday: Baby Days

What is Take Me Back Tuesday? Kari @ A Giveaway Addicted Mommy says:

We all have tons of photos from the days before the digital camera. I figure if I just scan a few each week, eventually I will get them all safely into my computer.
Every week you can come back here and share photos that “take you back.” Maybe it is the bad hair we all had in the 80’s or the bell-bottoms you swore were so hip in the 70’s. Whatever you want to share! If you decide to play along – just sign the Linky!! I promise to head on over and spread some comment love your way!

I thought I’d start my Take Me Back Tuesday journey at the beginning and share with you a very low res quality version of one of my baby pictures – and then for fun we can compare it to one of MM’s baby pictures. And by baby pictures, I mean we were both probably somewhere between 1 and 2 years old in these. If I was all on my game and prepared for this, I might have grabbed and scanned a picture of Dan, too, but this was a last minute, “What to blog about today?” idea and of course all our stuff is in the process of getting ready to be moved, so I’m actually working with pictures I’ve already scanned. Anyway, you don’t want to hear me talk read my ramblings, do you? No, you want to see the cute baby pictures already!

So what do we think? Could these cute kids be related?

Do you think baby MM looks like his mommy as a baby? Nothing alike?

I certainly had more hair and darker eyes but I still think I can see the resemblance. I am now eagerly looking forward to BB’s arrival so the compare and contrast can continue…

I’d Like You Guys To Meet…

My husband is an elusive kind of guy. He’s that wind beneath my wings, in the background guy. Back in my self hosted days, he was the  guy that had to drop whatever he was doing any million number of times that my server went down or something went wrong ( and it always did). He’s the guy who makes my coffee or tea in the morning and usually my breakfast, too, before running off to work where he sometimes seems to be more often than he is home. There in the morning when MM wakes up, back briefly before MM goes to bed. Still he’s an integral part of our day. He makes me sane, keeps me standing, and backs me up when it seems like no one else is going to (including me). He stays up later than he wants to listening to all my fears, worries, concerns and plans and tells me when I’m being silly and when I’m not. He’s often the man behind the camera of our life, rather than the one in the picture.

A couple weeks ago one of my favorite bloggers, Karen @ Write From Karen made the decision with her husband to announce his name to her blogging world. It was actually his idea – not wanting to be an object in her world. He was not only her husband, he was him. He has a name. I let this idea simmer in my mind for awhile, meanwhile feeling all kinds of tedious referring to my own husband as dh, hubby, husband, that guy – when that isn’t who he is to me. He has a name. But ultimately it had to be his decision. You have to be careful in this online world and adhere to other people’s wishes. I am planning to continue letting my son be the masked bandit behind the nickname MM (My Monkey) because he isn’t old enough to have an educated opinion. But I asked my husband today how he felt about the subject and this is what he said:

People less reputable than your readers have seen my name on the internet… go ahead 😉

So I’d like you guys to officially meet my husband, Daniel…

Just kidding, seriously, I have like a million of these almost pictures of him and they always crack me up. Okay, here’s a real one…

I know you’ve seen some of these pictures before – heck this one is even in my sidebar. The picture isn’t the important part. The important part is that guy up there in that picture is not just my dh or husband, he’s not just MM’s daddy – he’s Daniel. And he’s awesome.
