Welcome to my first edition of My Husband Rocks! a weekly meme hosted over at The Great Adventure. I think the point of this post is obvious – taking a moment to showcase the wonderful men in our lives, who keep us sane, through thick and thin – who take the brunt of our complaining and our worst habits – and still seem to think we are awesome hot goddesses, in spite of ourselves. I know my husband is well deserving of a “You rock, sweetie!” so this meme seems perfect for me. Get ready honey, I’m about to stroke your ego right here in the public eye – you might develop a fan club, who wear matching t-shirts that say something like, “I wish I was married to Jen’s husband – he’s the best!” Or something. It could happen. Anyhoo…
My husband is, in short, amazing. He gets up in the wee hours and makes me coffee, gets the monkey up, changes his diaper and usually fixes his breakfast, too (he’d make mine if I knew what I wanted that early in the morning). He then goes to work for the man (there’s always a the man, huh?) and when he comes home at night, he frequently makes dinner – because I’m lazy or something. When I try to appologize for myself, he usually says something along the lines of, “don’t worry about it – I like cooking!” And ladies, he’s good at it. He makes home made pizza that is better, BETTER, than anything you can buy at a pizza place or freezer section. It’s amazing, out of this world.
He also knows more about cleaning than I do, thanks to his wonderful upbringing (that included a private education and Partridge Family-esque musical background). He frequently recleans the things that I clean and knows off hand what gets what out, when I stand around looking dumb founded at the latest stain, thinking, “Now what?” In short, he renders me useless, and doesn’t seem to mind.
To my credit, I take care of the kid – all day. I pick up the messes he doesn’t – and I load and unload the dishwasher, because he’s inept at doing it well (in my opinion) – to his credit – he doesn’t seem to mind that I find him inept at loading and unloading the dishwasher. So, you know, he’s not perfect, but he comes pretty close.
So there you have it folks – you know now, just how lazy I am, and how lucky I am to have landed the catch of the century. What amazing things does your husband do, when no one’s looking?
