I married my best friend. We were young (we still are, but regardless), we were silly and we probably had no idea what we were getting ourselves into – we were in love, and we were terrified. After months of preparation and dealing with the typical woes of planning a wedding, we made it through in one piece and I know I made the best decision of my life that day.
Over the course of our marriage thus far, we have put up with a lot – he was still finishing school, we’d just had a kid, and we bounced around from place to place, living with each of our parents at one point or another, until finally getting our own place. Then we learned how hard it is to have your own place! Each milestone we hit is always interesting, as we learn the things we have in common, the things we know, and the things we are still learning. We’re still figuring each other out in some ways, and in other ways we are the epitome of an old married couple. I love it.
This afternoon, my mother-in-law took MM swimming with some family and I took DH out for lunch to celebrate our anniversary and exchange sappy presents. We had lunch at a small Italian restaurant – I ordered gnocchi, which is a meal I tried for the first time on our honeymoon, so it seemed fitting. We laughed over shared jokes, complained about work and friends, and mooned over each other for a bit.
Oh and the anniversary presents – wanna see what we got? I know you do. Well, let’s see, first here’s what he got me:
My husband is sweet and somewhat predictable and I kind of knew he’d get Breaking Dawn for me, as we’d talked about getting it this weekend, on our way to the movies and dinner with some friends. Heck, where and when haven’t I talked about Breaking Dawn recently?
And ladies, he even put tissue paper in the bag and everything – the funny thing is that the bag I gave him looks almost identical, except the one I used was an old pre-used bag that has seen better days – so as an extra gift, I guess now the bag he bought can replace the one I used for the next present I need a small white bag for. 🙂
Here is a picture of the two bags so you can see what I mean – see how much shinier and prettier the bag he bought is. Okay, now I know you want to see what I got for him – a present any man or woman would approve of, I think:
Apparently it’s a new collector’s edition – we both love the cover design which you notice more and more intricacies to the longer you look at it – much like the movie, am I right?
So we were both pretty happy and pretty proud of ourselves and pretty full because we ate one heck of a meal at said Italian dive. I was even able to go home and finish up some laundry before MM came back from his swimming date with his grammy, and now he’s napping! Talk about an extra special anniversary treat!
Anyhow, Happy Anniversary hubby – I had a wonderful “date” this afternoon, and I look forward to a lifetime of dates with you. 🙂
Oh, while I was out, I couldn’t help but pick up this little camera for MM for only $2 – I thought it was only right that he get an anniversary present, too – since he was there for the day as well those 720 days ago… I think he likes the camera a lot – he cried when I took it away before his naptime – “No!!!!! My pictureeeeeeeeee” hehe – so before I go, here are some pics of MM taking “pictureeeeees” with his new camera – and yes I’m aware that it’s a Little Mermaid Camera – it even tells MM that he’s a Pretty Princess – you know his daddy will love that!

He was pretty thrilled – and then we had a great time watching it later! We both love that movie. 🙂
