You Say Diet, I Say Sew It (So What?)

I read this awesome article on how to fix a too small t-shirt (I think I originally found it via Simple Mom‘s blog, but the article is on the Crafster.Org forum) and thought, “OMG I could totally do that” and by “I” I mean “my husband” because you know me and my lack of a crafty bone in my body – although I told my husband if he buys me a house with a great sewing table and stuff that I’ll totally become one of those crafty people if for no other reason than so I can make my own baby wraps – because if there’s nothing in it for me, why bother right?

What was my point again? Oh right, well you know being on a diet, I obviously have shirts that are too small for me – so I dragged dh to the craft store (you know he was kicking and screaming… or yeah I’ll spare his masculinity and move on) and found some cute fabric with a certain too small shirt in mind, got home decided they didn’t work so well together after all and the shirt wasn’t as too small as I’d remembered (must be all the water I’m drinking) but I did find another shirt that I’d forgotten all about because it was WAY too small (like what crack was I smoking too small) and the fabric looked amazing with that shirt – clearly I’d been picturing that the whole time right? Kismet or something? I don’t know.

So my husband learned how to sew just to make me this shirt:

What do you think? Is he a quick study or what? I look way less fat right? Can this count as part of my diet, Jen? Speaking of diet, more on that later, like tomorrow, after I’ve weighed myself and skewed come to terms with the results. G’nite!

Hey, I think that shirt looks really cute like that! Your hubby did that? That’s…amazing. Mine would never…he’d go change the oil in the car instead. 😉

@ Amanda: Totally aware of that – but if I had that craft table and craft skills, I’d be making slings and mei teis and all sorts of things lol

    Or not.

aww. what a sweetie. I don’t think my hubby could sew a straight line for a thousand dollars.

on the baby wrap note: if you find a good jersey knit that won’t fray or ravel, you can just cut (no sew). Fleece works the same way, so everyone is getting throws and scarves this christmas.

I like your rationale about the new house with a craft room would make you crafty. I need to try that with my husband. I’m sure he’d totally go for it.

Cute shirt and you do look fine, but no, this doesn’t count toward the challenge. Sorry.

You should find a red wife beater and layer it. It would look awesome. I like the alteration, though. I have a few shirts(ok tons of shirts!) that need that done.
