aloha friday: hot dog hot dog hot diggity birthday

MM is turning four in April and I am already in “party planning” mode. Part of me is all, “Dude, Jen, it’s way too early to be planning.” But I can’t help myself and I’ve got a pretty great party idea – I’m thinking a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Pajama Party!! The kiddos can come over for a late breakfast of pancakes (and some bagels, etc. for the grownups) and be all cute in their pajamas and and and I’m gonna make Mouseketool Party Favors and a Mickey Cake and it’s gonna be awesome!!! I hope.

Anyhow, my Aloha Friday questions for today are…

How soon in advance do you start planning for birthday parties?

What’s your favorite “party theme” that you’ve done or what theme would you really like to do?

Can you do the “Hot Dog” dance?

We probably start planning about a month out. With Alex it was always a no-brainer, we had a pool party every year. The only theme we had would be for plates and the pull-string pinata and possibly the cake, but not always. So it was never a big part of the party. Zach’s 1st birthday was in a restaurant and his 2nd was at an indoor playground, and the poor deprived child went to Disney World on his 3rd so didn’t have a party.

And I hate you for getting that song stuck in my head. 😛

My oldests are April birthday boys. How did I miss MM being in April?
Anywho..I do start thinking about it probably the month before since Gameboy’s is on the first.
I think a mickey pajama theme would be really cute.
The best I’ve done so far was my Fear Factor party for my oldest. I’ve got it in my archives somewhere.

I think that’s a great idea and now have the hot dog song in my head 😉

When the kids were younger, probably 2 months out on the planning. Now…maybe a month out depending if they are having a party with friends. Right now our celebrations have been just family – dinner and/or an outing at the child’s request.

i am not a big party planner we usually just do a family dinner out and let the girls choose 1 gift they really want. My best friend however has twin girls that are turning three this year and has had their Disney Birthday planned since their 2nd birthday I actually think she has ideas for birthdays through age 5. 🙂 a pajama party sounds like a blast.

I try to plan at least a month ahead, or longer if I can. I like to give 3 to 4 weeks advance notice so people can come. I haven’t done a themed party for the kids yet. Mason is finally old enough to want one, but I’m being lazy this year and doing his party at Chuck-E-Cheese. And I have no idea what the hot dog dance is, haha.
