Daybook: May 17th

camping in the living room

Today…

Outside my window: it’s another beautiful day in Wisconsin. Blue skies, green grass, all that. Lately everytime I go outside I get this rush of overwhelming looooove for where we live – soooooo beautiful sometimes, you know?. Life may not be perfect but we really do love it here, especially when the weather is nice

I am happy because: nobody in my family is currently throwing up, passed out or in any other urgently unhealthy critical condition. It has been a long stomach buggy weekend around these parts and we are all just getting back on our feet. When Dan went to work this morning I half wanted to cheer for joy that that was even physically possible and also kind of half wanted to weep a little bit because he’s been home since Thursday and I’m spoiled. But seriously – it is good to be back in good health!

I am reading: Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat by Michelle May and Percy Jackson and The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. I’m also browsing through Teaching Montessori In the Home by Elizabeth G. Hainstock and What Your Preschooler Needs To Know by E.D. Hirsch Jr and Linda Bevilacqua

In the kitchen:

  • Monday: Baked Potatoes with Spinach and Gorgonzola
  • Tuesday: Spaghetti with Sauce and maybe some Garlic Bread
  • Wednesday: Quesadillas
  • Thursday: French Onion Soup
  • Friday: Penne a la Betsy

We are really excited right now because: we have both our upcoming trip to MA to look forward to and our first ever family camping trip next month. We finally saved enough money to get a tent this weekend and were even lucky enough to spot a small sale on a similar tent for $10 less which we can put towards an air mattress. After that, I think we’ll be fully outfitted for the trip, though Dan does need to go through all of his old gear to make sure everything is still working.

Some other links I think you should click:

One last thing I want to tell you about before I go: the other night I made Dan watch this funny video that Jen @ Stuff Jen Says posted. It’s a Toyota ad apparently called Swagger Wagon and it’s hysterical. Pretty much the only thing funnier than this video (which you HAVE to listen to if you haven’t yet) is this cute picture of BB which I’m pretty convinced is her impersonation of the song, maybe?

I Must admit- SUPER JELOUS you are going camping… chris isn’t too ken on the idea- but with it being something I grew up doing a lot I have to work on him still.

And yes- Swagger Wagon is HYSTERICAL. We saw it about a week ago and couldn’t stop laughing.

I’m so excited that Oklahoma is going to finally get a Whole Foods..of course it’s not til next year but this is huge for OK! Sorry had to share…if you knew the crazy liquor laws here, most of the grocery stores here are all locally owned which is good in one way but restricting in others.

Glad everyone is feeling better. That stomach bug seems to be making the rounds. Send your beautiful weather our way please…it’s been raining all day.
