I know that it’s technically still fall, but in my little imaginary world winter pretty much starts on December 1st. Especially when it’s snowing. And it’s snowing and it’s December 1st so I thought I’d just jump the gun here and move onto winter wishing. But first I figured I’d share the results of my Fall Fun List of the 10 things I really wanted to do in the autumn season. Let’s see how I did!
1. Decorate a pumpkin or two and possibly visit a pumpkin patch with the kids. Yup we visited a pumpkin patch, picked a couple cute pumpkins and decorated them. So check and check!
2. Bake at least one pie from scratch and maybe have MM help this year. Pie crust doesn’t count right? Good – yeah I totally baked an apple pie from scratch and it was delish. I did not let MM help me this year, maybe 2011.
3. Jump in a big pile of leaves! MM pretty much did this every time he happened to be walking past a pile.
4. Go apple picking with the kids. I can’t say it was a lot of fun, but we did it.
5. Make homemade apple sauce. Yeah totally dropped the ball on this one, but to be fair, we always seemed to have apple sauce in the refrigerator already and it seemed silly. I did make that pie though and there were baked apples, etc.
6. Do an artsy crafty project with pine cones, yellow leaves or something similar. Yeah we crafted our little hearts out this fall with plenty of seasonal themes, etc.
7. Read a great book while sipping apple cider, hot cocoa or egg nog. I’m not sure that I technically read a book while drinking egg nog, but I definitely read great books and drank all three of these beverages this fall. Hopefully more of each will be done this winter, too!

8. Take the kids trick or treating (I don’t see how this one could not happen but it seemed like it should be on the list). Obviously we got this one done.
9. Take the kids on a nature hunt and see what signs of the season we can find. Whoops. It’s cold outside, dude. And I live in a 3rd floor apartment and like to blame all my short-comings on that fact. Sorry.
10. Go for a hayride! I’m sure I can find some farm doing one this year. Hayrides with BB still make me nervous. We decided to do a corn maze instead!
What fun things did you do with your families this Fall? Are you already saying goodbye to autumn and hello to winter or is that just me?

And, I can’t believe it’s already December.

@ Nancy : I’ve made applesauce before so yes I remember that it was pretty easy, but I actually don’t really like applesauce so it’s hard to get the motivation to make it, unfortunately for the rest of my family! haha
I thought about waiting but then I looked at the two things left and they both seem unlikely to happen anytime soon and I decided I’d rather move onto wintery things. 🙂

That window where the weather is perfect for fall outings has always been so small where I live. Seems like winter rushes in and spoils my plans every time.

Great job on your list! I’m giving myself the full 3 weeks left to finish as much of my list as I can.
By the way, it’s so ridiculously easy to make homemade applesauce. Way easier than a pie. And yummy!

That was an awesome list. I wish it was snowing here. Of course everyone would be freaking out but, hey, life would be interesting, eh?
