I recently read:
My Dear Hamilton by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie | I’m in a yarn book club at my LYS (local yarn shop) where once a month I get a book to read and a skein of yarn inspired by the book and we meet at the yarn shop to discuss the book and show off what we’ve been knitting/ crocheting, etc. Most of us show up with a work in progress to work on while we discuss.
Anyway, this is the last book we read and I really liked it. It was probably my favorite pick this year for the club. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about the revolutionary war and thought I knew a good amount about Alexander Hamilton but basically I was so wrong because I spent most of the book with my jaw on the floor.
This book was thorough, emotional, fascinating, and heartbreaking. I learned so much, cried a lot, and eventually made my own peace with a complicated story about a complicated man and a complicated time in history. I was very struck while reading at the thought that so little has changed in the world. I can’t decide if this comforts me or not. A very well written book.

Listen I’m always reading at least half a dozen books but obviously some of them are usually getting more of my attention than others. Here are the four currently leading the pack in terms of my attention span.
Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver | This is the current pick for the yarn book club. I really just started it but apparently it centers around three stories that take place in the southern Appalachia. It’s kind of a love letter to nature and human connection.It seems like everyone on the Internet is reading Dungeon Crawler Carl right now. My husband devoured the first book. One of my very favorite besties read it and was like GIRL, READ THIS NOW. I’m finally taking their advice and yeah it’s very quickly becoming my whole personality. I’m going to need Princess Donut themed everything. This book is a lot of fun, especially if you have any interest in RPGs or video games but that’s not necessarily a requirement. Margo’s Got Money Problems by Rufi Thorpe| I have this one on audible because I really wanted to watch the show but not enough to subscribe to Apple TV and Elle Fanning narrates the book so this seemed like the next best thing. This book is giving me a lot of nostalgia from the early days of raising a baby when I was a naive young thing with no idea what I was doing. Margo has a different set of circumstances than my own, but it’s still weirdly relatable despite the wild plot.Ok listen. The world of romance books is a weird, wild place and apparently I’ve entered my unhinged era. This book is so absurd that I’m almost embarrassed to list it. But you know what? It’s pretty good so far. This little smut piece stars a zoologist who gets abducted by aliens and her POV is very nerdy fascination with the alien flora and fauna on the planet she ends up on. If you are looking for something fun to read and you don’t take your reading life too seriously, give it a shot. Warning: reviews call this one extra spicy. If alien abduction romance is your new cup of tea, the Clecanian Series by Victoria Aveline is also pretty good. Dad, please don’t read these. 🤣🤣🤣
