Aloha Friday: Summer Vacations

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. She’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life‘s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

So my question this Friday is:

Did you take a vacation this year? Where did you go? How was it?
If not, are you planning to take a vacation later in the year, not at all, why / why not, etc?

I realized I might want to answer my own question for anyone who doesn’t read my blog regularly and thus would have no idea how freaking excited I am for our upcoming vacation this September to the White Mountains – we almost nixed a trip this year, in an effort to save money, but travel is so important to me and the lack of it had me down, so I started looking for a trip somewhere relatively close by, studied the cost comparisons of going at different times of the year and looked for places where my son might still get in free – when I realized this was the last year he’d get in free to places like Storyland and Santa’s Village in NH and that going in September would be much cheaper hotel-wise than other months – we decided to go for it. And yeah, I’m thinking of putting up a countdown on the blog because I’m so very excited and a nerd like that. Anyhoo, as you were.

i went to Hawaii earlier in the year but not a vacation since it’s my first home. I was there to be with family my brother was undergoing a surgery. Then I would have gone with the family to Reno to meet up with my brother and his family for a tournament BUT I got a new job and couldn’t make it cause of work and sadly there was no vacation for any of us.
I plan on going by myself to Las Vegas to see Cher in Oct. ….thanks for asking

We went to Lake Tahoe earlier in the year. It was the first time I’ve ever seen snow! We also plan to go to Disneyland later this year.

We have gone to visit my brother and out-laws for a few long weekend. Not really vacations, but went out of town. We will likely stay home the rest of the summer and only take a day trip to an amusement park or other close places.

    Have a great weekend 🙂

We went to a family reunion in May and loved every minute and a surprise birthday party mini family reunion for hubby’s sister! Both were great fun.

In April we met up with our best friends on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We rented a huge house there and stayed for a week.

Mid July we did more of a stay-cation. We spend a week in LBI NJ at my brother-in-laws shore house. It’s only 20 minutes from our home, so it wasn’t like going away-away.

Next week, on the 8th, we leave for Florida to spend a week. We rented a house 20 minutes outside of Disney. We’ll do 1 day at Seaworld, 2 days at Disney, the other days hanging by the pool at the house.
