Fine By 2009: One More Week!

There’s only one more week of the Looking Fine by 2009 challenge hosted by Jen @ Daily Mish Mash. I’ve dropped about half a pound since last week (bring me to 215.6) which is pretty good since I added 300 calories per day to my diet last week, per doctors orders. I fell off the workout bandwagon a bit last week, but still managed to pull off a silver medal for like trying or something – I think it’s like the equivalent of those medals they give everybody for showing up, even if they trip over their shoes in the first 5 minutes and then leave the race to inhale a sheet cake.  But it’s still pretty:

Unfortunately, despite my funny metaphor, I didn’t get to inhale a single sheet cake last week – I simply neglected the workouts half way in because I am le tired. Seriously, guys – I’m in my first trimester – doing the laundry today was enough to make me break out into a sweat. So even though I really liked the Walk Away The Pounds DVD that I discovered last week, I only tried it twice and today I made the executive decision to return it, because it’s been a long enough time since I’ve used it that it’s really taking up space in my Netflix Queue that could be occupied by the third season of Dawson’s Creek (I’ve been jonsing to watch the whole Pacey / Joey love story unfold again).

Eating an extra 300 calories is pretty terrific though I’ve been trying to be sensible. My morning sickness finally showing up is not terrific and I’d kind of like to go back a week or two when I smugly commented that I probably wouldn’t be getting morning sickness this pregnancy and beat myself over the head with the toilet seat which I’ve been spending far too much time with lately. I really want to get back to working out but really guys, I’m exhausted. Freaking exhausted. So I’m giving myself a grace period of the rest of the “holiday season” and I vow to make sure I’m trying again with the exercise thing by 2009, kay?

So Wednesday is my birthday, then Thursday is Christmas, then Saturday is Game Night – and tonight we’re having some out of town friends over for pizza – I’m probably not going to exactly follow my diet this week, but I’ve decided that I don’t care and one week won’t kill me. And I’m not planning to go ape shit or anything, I just don’t feel like saying, “no birthday cake for you Jen,” or going to a fun new restaurant for my birthday and ordering a salad – no thank you. I still think I might be able to finish off 2008 with another .5 pounds lost bringing me to a weight of 215 pounds to start the new year – that’s my goal, very small I think, which means I stand a shot in heck of meeting it.

    Just ran across your blog and wanted to say hi! I think your weight loss is great! Keep up the good work! I have lost and found the same 15 lbs. several times this year. I am trying to lose it again!

    You deserve to have a great birthday night out and cake too!
    You might pull it off and not just think how awesome you did in the long run and in reality you made the weight, who’s counting that last half pound?
