Aloha Friday: Pick A Name, Any Name

It’s time for another Aloha Friday, the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. As you should know by now, over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

So the news is out. BB Kumquat is a girl (95% sure). She’s so girly in fact that I’m toying with the idea of dropping the Kumquat and referring to her as simply BB (Baby Blueberry) which I think works rather nicely since I’ve been referring to my son as MM (My Monkey) for a long time now (in blogging world). But that’s not really what this is about (apart from her being a girl). I want to talk names. Real ones. The one I won’t tell you, just like I haven’t announced my son’s name (and won’t until he’s old enough for me to ask his permission). I’m 95% sure I’ve already chosen BB’s name, but you know I’ve got time to kill and I thought it would be fun to do a little survey…

If you could name my daughter, what name would you choose? As in, what is your favorite girls name, a name you’ve always wanted to use, a name you’ve recently discovered and are coveting, that kind of thing, to put it simply:

“What girl’s name do you like best?”

First only is fine, first and middle is even more fun.

Douglas would have been Laura Mary, and Jack would have been Caroline Dorothy (we would have called her Carly).

Congratulations on the news. We always were able to come up with girl names. I guess that is probably why we had two boys. With my oldest I think we were talking about Marcia or Meghan. Good luck with deciding on a name 🙂

I’ve always liked the name Avery for a girl. And Lainey was another favorite but my husband vetoed it. 😦

Hmmm…That’s a tough one! I named my daughter Hannah because that was the name I wished I’d had when I was a little girl. If I ever have another daughter, I’d like to name her Eva, which is the name of my lifelong best friend. 🙂 She’s actually having a baby in March, and I like the name she’s chosen, if she has a girl: Elaina Rose. I also like the names Rhea, Corrinne, Simone, Kaia, and Brenna.

BTW, I guess I missed the post where you found out you were having a girl! Congrats! It’s fun to have one of each!!

    A baby girl- congrats!

I love the name Violetta or Violet. Before I knew I was having a boy, that was my girl name. Isabella is a favorite, too.

    Have a great weekend!

I would like unusual names, like places names. I wanted to call one of my girls Savannah. I just love that. Dakota is good too. Darcy is one of my favourites too.

Now that my daughter is in school and soccer, I come across all sorts of names that are fun and beautiful. Tess, Ella, Paige, Elizabeth (Betsy)…I personally love my daughter’s name but in the interest of privacy can’t comment (I can PM you though). Watch out – my husband was a nightmare picking out names. He would do the rhyme game with every name I came up with. Hope your husband’s not as juvenile.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS on having a girl!!! I’m so excited for you! (Of course, I’d be equally excited if you were having another boy. *grin*)

If I had had a girl (*sniff*), I would have named her Brooke Anne. I don’t know, I just LOVE the name Brooke. It’s so girly and prissy. lol

I’m looking forward to seeing little BB!

When I had my little baby rage a few weeks ago, the hubs and I were playing with names because he’s one of these crazy males that actually like to come up with names.
-Samara (he likes it pronounced Sa mir a) This is actually another blog friend of mines daughter’s name. I just randomly threw it out there at him thinking he wouldn’t like it.
-Joren is one we kind of made up 3 kids ago and still would like to use some day as a middle name.
-I love love the name Shayla which is my real life bff’s name. Hubs won’t go for it though.

I always wanted to name my daughter Katherine however she is a Hanae through & through! I love the name Katherine though because Kate Hepburn is /was my favorite actor. Then there’s the whole nickname thing. Kate, Katie & my least favorite, Kathy.

Lots to love about that name! lol
