Today…
Outside my window: it’s still mostly dark out. The hubby woke me up at the crack of dawn, or you know, like five minutes ago, because he’s going into work early for some big event type thing which requires early arrival.
This weekend we: mostly spent recovering from the previous week! On Wednesday we took a little mini vacation to the Wisconsin Dells which is this touristy theme-park dominated down with loads of waterparks, cheesy restaurants and hotel resorts with their own private indoor / outdoor waterparks and more cheesy restaurants. We stayed for two nights at one of the lower priced “resorts” and had a blast. I think it will be even more fun when the kids get older, but there were plenty of things for little ones to do and new things for us all to explore. We’ll definitely go again.

The place we stayed was the Wilderness Resort – and I’ll try and do a full write up of it later, but for now just some more cute pictures of my kids:
I actually had to take an elevator to the second floor to get this picture – that’s how high the little canoe he’s sitting in is! It’s attached to an enormous climbing play area for older kids. That’s right, apparently MM qualifies as an OLDER kid now – when did that happen?
Meanwhile my little kid spent time in their “toddler play area” which is similar to the ones you’d find in a mall nowadays with a “wild animals” theme. Her favorite was the coiled snake – she spent a lot of time crawling into the middle and then back out again – and tossing that ball in her hand in the middle, too – that was much fun!
We also: had to do a bit of shopping this weekend as I ruined a load of our laundry by accident shortly before leaving for our trip. I still haven’t replaced everything that was “lost” since you know, that costs money and stuff, but Dan had to get a couple new shirts and I now own one long-sleeve shirt which is also new. Some of my favorite things were in that load of laundry. ::sniff:: Oh right, what happened to it? I neglected to check pockets and one of Dan’s pens ended up in the washer and then finally exploded everywhere in the dryer. That was fun to clean up.
I am reading: The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan, also known as book 3 of the Percy Jackson series which for some reason I’d convinced myself that I’d already read, but no in fact, I have not. I picked it up while Dan was in the middle of Mockingjay which my best bestie in the world bought me a copy of and mailed to me (love her) and now Dan’s finished Mockingjay so you can guess what I’ll be reading the literal second I finish TTC.
Some links I think you should click:
- Baekdal had a couple of interesting articles recently – the first was about a series of illustrations by the artist Alejo Malia which show kind of what the world would like like with google maps augmented. I know that sounds confusing or boring or something, but just check them out – really cool.
- The other one I wanted to share with you is about the challenge of TV’s future – I thought this was really interesting.
- You probably heard or saw Lady Gaga’s interview on Ellen’s season premier, with the infamous meat dress. I really loved Ellen’s comment on her website about this.
- It would seem the verdict has been made – vaccines do not cause autism. Do you vaccinate your kids? What has been your thought on the whole issue up to now?
One last picture to share before I go: that boy of mine has been long overdue for a haircut, at least in my opinion, and this weekend I finally trapped him in the bathroom and got it done. Well, I didn’t really have to trap him as he doesn’t mind haircuts anymore – although he did squirm and giggle a lot because the clippers tickle apparently. His hair looks so much nicer now!

That little resort sounds like heaven. How fun to have something like somewhat nearby. Both kids are getting so big! I’m w/ ya. Where does the time go?!?

@ Jean : This is why I can’t justify buying one of those custom blog designs. We both know I’ll get bored of it within a month tops. :OP

Looks like it was a great trip. That canoe is really up there. At least now you don’t have to worry about crawling in there to rescue. That was always my big fear. We love the Percy Jackson series and I’m almost done with Mockingjay. What to read next?
