Today
Outside my window: it is finally starting to look like spring! Our maple trees have started to bloom and dandelions are sprouting in the yard so there are lovely greens and yellows everywhere. Much nicer than browns and browns and other shades of brown.
This weekend: we did a bit of yard work (you can see in my first picture we were putting the kids to work, too!) and ran a few errands trying to cheaply acquire a few more of the things we’ll need to be competent home owners, and you know, groceries and stuff. We seem to have survived the Great Ceiling Disaster of 2011 and life goes on.

I also: did a bit of baking this weekend. I finally got to try out the lemon sugar cookies recipe that I found at Two Peas and Their Pod forever and a heck ago. My husband, of sugar cookie aversions, loved these and I have to agree they are quite tasty. Plus I love cooking with lemon – such heavenly aromas were filling my kitchen that night!
I’m reading: The Van Alen Legacy by Melissa de la Cruz which I suppose means I have abandoned Anne of Windy Poplars, but lord knows I’m not the first to do so. I suppose one bad egg in a batch of seven delicious eggs is not so terrible a record for L.M. Montgomery so I’m going to let myself off the hook and look forward to reading the next Anne book another time.

One last picture to share before I go: proof that I am indeed spoiled by my wonderful husband. This was my breakfast this morning:

He chilled some leftover Swedish pancakes in Tupperware so they’d form this bowl shape and then filled them with fresh sliced strawberries and powdered sugar. Pretty and delicious!
