It’s Real Life: A Day In The Life

It’s time for It’s Real Life! This week we’re dealing with ordinary – I’m going to show you a semi-ordinary Tuesday in our life. I say, semi because normally on Tuesdays I don’t take pictures of what I’m doing every thirty minutes or so and there were a few things slightly out of the norm but not necessarily because of the camera, so much as, in my ordinary days, sometimes I do extraordinary or even just different things. Okay? Let’s get started…

Oh and remember, it’s not fun if you don’t hover over each picture!

My Husband Rocks: How Well Do You Know Your Husband?

For this week’s My Husband Rocks, I just want to take some time to pay tribute and recall moments of DH history. The host of MHR, Katy Lin @ The Great Adventure posted this little meme all about how well you know your husband a few days ago and I thought it would be perfect for my post today.

This is an old shot of him shortly after we started dating…

Here’s on of us together:

1. Sitting in front of the TV, what’s on the screen? Fringe, Bones or the Sarah Connor Chronicles; or as an old standby, he also likes The Simpsons, Family Guy & Mythbusters

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad? Something simple like Ranch or Caesar

3. What’s one food he doesn’t like? wax beans – there are others but he isn’t a terribly picky eater (unlike me)

4. You go out to a bar. What does he order? Guinness

5. Where did he go to high school? St Johns – local catholic school for the boy genius

6. What size shoe does he wear? I’m pretty sure it’s 12 or 13 depending on the shoe

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be? computer parts 😛

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich? an Italian sub on wheat bread with everything, lots of hots

9. What would this person eat everyday if he could?
I’m not sure he’d eat anything every day but some things he loves are salt and vinegar potato chips, popcorn, cold cut sandwiches (like the one in question eight) and Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken

10. What is his favorite cereal? He likes those healthy cereals mostly but he’d rather have eggs – he makes himself a mean omelet and several other egg dishes most mornings.

11. What would he never wear? a Halloween costume if he could avoid it (much to my dismay)

12. What is his favorite sports team? He’s really not a huge sports nut but like any good New Englander he likes the Red Sox and the Patriots

13. Who will he vote for? John McCain

14. Who is his best friend? He has several really good friends, as there is nobody on this planet who doesn’t like my husband, but this nut comes to mind as the probable bestie:

Jimmy was the best man in our wedding and the best goofball we know.

He just moved very, very far away and we miss him a lot.

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn’t do? I’m sure there are a lot of things, like not moving the seat back when I get out of the car (he’s so much taller than me he physically can’t get in with the seat set for me), reading late late at night and keeping him up because of it? ::shrugs:: Honey if there’s something I don’t know about, feel free to clue me in. 😛

16. How many states has he lived in? Just the one I think

17.What is his heritage? Wampanoag (Native American) and I think also some French and Irish and probably other things as well but those I think are the big ones.

18. You bake him a cake for his birthday, what kind of cake? chocolate cake with either cream cheese or butter cream frosting. But he’d rather I bake him my chocolate chip cookies. 🙂

19. Did he play sports in high school? Maybe a bit, but nothing major – he’s very outdoorsy and not really into competitive sports – so he wouldn’t likely try out for varsity but he could swim laps around probably anyone except maybe Michael Phelps.

20. What could he spend hours doing? playing on his laptop doing “linux stuff”

21. Does he belong to any men’s organizations? Not that I’m aware. He was in the IEEE, but that’s not exclusively male, just stereotypically.

Okay and now for some more pictures because I went to all the trouble to upload them. 🙂

You Asked For It: Pictures of Me

So one of my lovely readers, Katheryn @ While The Tea is Steeping, commented that I aught to post some pictures of myself, after the whole “my husband thinks I look like Audrey Hepburn” thing that I wrote up for My Husband Rocks this past Friday. So, I figure why not – but I’m warning you, my husband might be delusional and I do not personally think I look anything like Audrey Hepburn.

That being said, the trip down memory lane, looking through old photos and current ones of myself was fun, so why not have a little show and tell, right?

This is a very recent picture of me, taken over the weekend on my webcam

The resemblence? Not so much stunning. DH said it had something to do with the angles of our faces or something. We certainly both have interesting eye brows, no offense Audrey. But perhaps it is a younger Jen he is thinking of? Certainly not a high school Jen since he didn’t know me then, but I was certainly closer to an Audrey weight then, so why not compare and contrast. This is me my senior year of high school:

Nope, no Audrey there... that I can see
Nope, no Audrey there... that I can see

Oh and to give you an idea of what I mean by, “I was really skinny once…”

This was me the first week of college, fresh out of high school

Annnnd this is me the day of my wedding 6 years later, although to be fair I was still putting off some post partum weight.

the blushing bride and her groom
the "blushing" bride and her freakishly tall groom - but still no Audrey

Okay and for fun, one shot of me with my best friend – for some reason I always look better in pictures with her – probably cause I’m too busy having fun to think about how I look:

Circa 2003 or so
Circa 2003 or so; happy as a clam, but an Audrey? No I don't think so

So in short, my husband is very sweet, and I am very short, but I’m no Audrey Hepburn, if you ask me, and this is probably the most pictures of me that you will ever see, so I hope you all enjoyed this. 🙂

Just Another Manic Monday

Got to be to work by nine
And if I had an air-o-plane
I still couldn’t make it on time
Just another Manic Monday

How would your friend describe you to someone who has never seen you? She’s that girl, you know the one – with shortish brown hair, glasses – looks a bit like a Daria, until she starts talking – okay, maybe even when she’s still talking – she’s that short girl married to that tall guy, the mother of that short cute two year old boy with the ridiculously blue eyes – no her eyes are brown I think – come on, I know you know who I mean – that girl!! (I think I’m memorable when you get to know me, but based solely on appearance I am the epitome of forgettable – it’s true)

Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? My husband and my father … and a good deal of my family and friends – I must rock because I can think of quite a few people who’d probably rush to protect me given the need. You guys rock!!!

If you died or went missing, who would miss you? Um well my son and husband, and all those people I mentioned in question two – gosh depressing much – and you, dear bloggy friends, will you miss me when I’m gone? Will you miss reading all of my memes and those one or two occasional posts of quality? You will, won’t you?

This meme was stolen from Fond of Snape, but apparently originated at Manic Monday the Blog – I know I already did a “Monday Meme” today, but this one looked fun, too, and is equally short, so I think you all can deal right? Besides – fun!!

Wikipedia + Meme = Family Fun Birthday Extravaganza

My husband so enjoyed my Wikipedia Meme about the day I was born that he looked up his own info and boy were there some neat things that happened on his birthday (November 21)! I was so impressed, I decided to repost the whole meme using all three of our family birthdays, so we can always have these great little tidbits at our disposal – might make for some interesting home made birthday cards! (i.e. “Happy Birthday Husband – and also, Happy World Television Day!”)

So let’s see what great things happened on each of our respective days of birth, shall we? This time I’m not going to limit by number, simply show the most interesting things from each date:
