Today is my birthday! We’re planning to celebrate with lunch at HuHot Mongolian Grill and Dan is making me a homemade Lemoncello Torte for dessert tonight (inspired by the Cheesecake Factory’s which is, in a word, amazing). I am not expecting any birthday presents but for fun I thought I’d list thirteen things I would love to get for my birthday – if money were no object, etc. and so forth…
- This Office Chair from IKEA. I’ve only been drooling over this beauty for a few months now but I’ve been on the hunt for a better office chair for at least a year. Cheaping out on my current chair in retrospect was not a great thing.
- John Mayer: Battle Studies CD. He collaborated with Taylor Swift on this CD which I’ve been anticipating since I first heard about it like forever ago. At just ten dollars on Amazon this is a gift I’m hoping I can secure for myself sooner than later, but unfortunately it’s going to have to wait until we’ve gotten some new clothes for our constantly growing children, new cloth diaper covers for BB, and you know groceries.
- Wii Active. I’ve been reading all over the internet about how the Wii Active is a really great workout tool and I’d love to give it a try, but it’s a bit costly for someone who already owns a Wii Fit. I might upgrade to the Wii Fit Plus which would only be $20 since I own the original.
- Speaking of books (what, you weren’t thinking about books just now?) I would love a gift certificate to Amazon.com or a bookstore where I could buy some great new reads like Splendor by Anna Godberson or Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld.
- If I had one of those fancy eReaders like the Nook or Kindle I could get lots of books that take up very little space. Which would be great because my bookshelves? They runneth over.
- Do you watch the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson? He has a new book out called American on Purpose that I’d love to read and I bet my husband would like this, too – we are new fans of his but already pretty smitten. He and Ellen Degeneres are now my favorite two talk show hosts.
- Speaking of which, I would LOVE tickets to see The Ellen Show. Of course I’d need airfare and some accommodations for a trip to Burbank, California but it’s my dream birthday and I can wish if I want to.
- We’re getting ready to move miss BB into a crib and begin the dreaded task of training her to sleep through the night. For awhile I’ll probably go to her crib in the middle of the night for feedings – this rocking chair from IKEA would make the whole thing a bit more doable – and pretty.
- And if that rocking chair could be in a nursery in a new house, well it would pretty much be the best birthday in the world.
- And my new house will probably come with a new kitchen which deserves some new cookware preferably made by Le Creuset.
- Now that I have a house big enough for entertaining people, I’d love it if my friends and family could all come visit me for my birthday (or heck for any time, I know this isn’t an easy time to travel). I miss them a lot and I’d love to show off my new town to the people I love most.
- Once they leave, I’d love a big vacation – my wanderlust, as you may know, knows no limits – but something like a trip to NYC or Disney or Hawaii or Europe… you know, whatever. That’d be pretty sweet.
- Oh heck, one more birthday item? I’m running out of ideas to be honest so how about we end with…. world peace?

Happy belated birthday, sorry I missed it! I have the Sports Active and I do love it. I’m doing the 30 day challenge right now. Well not RIGHT NOW but you know what I mean. Jon got me the Wii Fit Plus and more workouts for the Active for Christmas so I’ll have a whole variety of workouts.
