As a mother, time seems to slip away from me a lot. Sometimes it seems like just yesterday I was marveling at my son rolling over and now he’s four years old. I blinked and my newborn daughter was eleven months old and climbing the stairs at a friend’s house. When did that happen?
In an effort to ensure a memorable summer full of savoring each moment, here are 10 goals for summer fun this year in no particular order. Feel free to play along on your own blog!
- Experience the joy of camping! This goal is half done since we’ve technically already taken our first camping trip this year but I am looking forward to our next trip and plan to enjoy as many seconds of it as possible!
- Celebrate my daughter’s first birthday with friends, chocolate cake and my camera of course. Chocolate covered baby pictures are a first birthday must!
- Teach MM how to make tie dyed shirts, friendship bracelets and any other dorky summer camp-esque crafts I can dream up.
- Trips to the beach – starting soon! Sandcastles, splashing in the water and some playground fun thrown in for the shorties.
- A trip to IKEA is a must this summer. The fact that it’s right next to the Container Store, The Cheesecake Factory and a fantastic mall are a bonus.
- Begin seriously house hunting. And if we find the right house? Who knows. Wish me luck and knock on wood and all of that jazz because we’re ready to get serious.
- After dinner walks around town; meeting up at the local playground with friends when we can.
- Grilling burgers, hot dogs, bratwurst and anything else we can think of. House pending it will be mostly indoor grilling but no less delicious.
- Splash into Reading at our local library with weekly story times and many other fun events planned.
- Relax with a good book as often as possible. I read nine books this spring so I think I’ll shoot for 10 this summer. Wish me luck!
What are your plans for this summer? Anything you think is missing on my list?

Very nice list!! I think I’ll adopt yours…sounds about like what we plan to do as well!! 🙂 Of course, the allergy to mosquito bites may prevent me from enjoying the camping and outdoorsy stuff for the next 2 months *sigh* but what great fun it’ll be for the kids watching me run from around outside trying to avoid bites like I’m being sniper shot at! haha Oh boy.

What an excellent list. I have done the camping one and the BBQ one. Still to do the beach one and I only live five minutes away, so that is really shocking. I have started more after dinner walks though.

Great list! #5 sounds like a lot of fun, I miss going to the Container Store and wandering around. Haven’t been in one in a while.
I wish I could do more of the events at the library but like everything else, they mostly take place during the day, when I’m you know, doing that working thing. I am noting the evening events though and hope to get to a few of them.
I did a summer to do list too, though yours sounds a lot more relaxing than mine!
