less wordless: on the heat, the diet and the house (and then some)

practically dripping with sweat

Dudes, it is HOT out there. Like caliente HOT HOT HOT. Seriously. Despite having the AC on so much of the day that it’s almost embarrassing (but still so hot!) my little babies are practically sweating through their clothing. Their hair drips with sweat. It’s gross.

I’m planning to give MM a haircut to offer him a bit of relief from the heat just as soon as I find a second to stop being lazy and just do it. It’s easy with him, what with the electric clippers. Even when he squirms and squeals, there really is just very little chance of messing up so long as he lets me finish. But dude, it’s hot. I don’t wanna. Just let me sit here and drink some lemonade and sweat in peace, m’kay?

and then there's this one

And then there’s this one. I don’t even know what to do about this one. That hair. I think maybe I need to get it cut, but seriously she doesn’t have enough hair to cut. It’s just the stuff she’s got is crazy. She’s clearly in that in between awkward stage of growing her hair out and I think maybe I just need to ride it out and wait, but seriously could she be any slower about it? I really don’t know what to do with this one except pretend I don’t notice that my baby’s looks sort of like a homeless person, or just someone with a broken hair brush.

It’s hot. And I’m tired. Finally, Dan is home – finally – after a week away but I’m still just tired from the whole experience of him being gone for a week, plus you know a year or so of sleeplessness. Better just make that four years if we’re going to be honest. At this point, I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to “catch up on my sleep.” I may just be one of those eternally tired people.

Which isn’t helping with the weight loss. I know what to do – I’ve done it – I know how to get off my butt and lose the weight but that doesn’t mean I’m doing it. I’m mostly just talking about it a lot. I’ll get there. Eventually, I promise I’ll get there but it seems like right now all I really want to do is complain about it. Being healthy is boring and exhausting and lame. I’d much rather be fat and happy sometimes. But that’s just the fat talking.

It’s kind of begging for it’s life these days because it knows that I’ve caught it in the act of trying to stick around. It knows I’m watching it and plotting it’s demise. It knows that any little second now I’m going to call up my old friend calorie count and I’m going to start walking at home and learning how to ride a bike again and I’m going to kick this fat for good! Any little second now…

Before I go, can we all just agree that FHA loans are stupid and lame and that asking someone to pay $3,000 to repaint the entire house when they are applying for a 3% home loan to begin with? Is just stupid. If I could afford an extra 3k I’d be getting a traditional home loan, you twerps. No wonder vinyl siding is so popular these days.

Okay, I think that’s enough of me venting for one post – I’ll end this with a couple quick happy things of note and then turn it over to you guys:

MY HAPPY LIST:

  1. Tonight is BUNCO night! I made Ree’s raspberry cream pie and I am super duper excited for a girls night out!
  2. I just got my review copy of She’s Gone Country by Jane Porter and I am beyond excited to crack into it, just as soon as I finish Peony in Love – time get reading like a mad woman!
  3. The CSA was good to us this week – corn on the cob, eggplant, raspberries and so much more. Lots of yummy cooking in our future!

Alright it’s your turn – I’d love to hear more about the good and bad in your world right now! Time to dish in the comments section below!

Cute design. Looks like you have more room too. Your baby is just too cute. I love her eyes. Already following you. Have a great weekend.

Don’t worry about the hair… it’s too hot. I found my kids with long hair don’t get their heads sunburned! Can’t keep hats on them, but hair works ;D We’ve actually been cooler since leaving the US (we were on vacation) and returning to Jordan… how strange is that? and btw… gotta add that if tiredness does seem impossibly eternal, get your thyroid checked. Recently discovered I had issues. Thyroid messes with vitamin retention.. all attacks energy :p

Man, your CSA is so much better than ours. Eggplant? Jealous! Although we seem to be behind you in harvests so maybe we’ll get it soon. We got 2 ears of corn this week for the first time.

And I’m also with you on the weight loss. Sigh.

@ amber : This heat is just ridiculous – like it should be illegal! way to go on the run – the last time I went out, the most I could talk myself into was a short walk. Just too hot!

Love the new design. It’s very clean. I hear you on the weight loss. Mine’s in a stall…I did make myself run last night, despite the fact that it was 95 degrees at 9 p.m. (when I finally dragged my butt out the door), so maybe I lost a couple pounds of water?
