I’ve been feeling kind of like a crazed harpie shrew lady today, which is far more common than I’d care to admit (except that I just did). I could blame it on hormones or be like, “Clearly my crazy mood swinging fits of rage mean that I’m pregnant or have cancer.” Or something. Or I could focus on the positive. So for this week’s Thursday Thirteen I’m going to submit myself to some good therapy and list out thirteen things that make or would make me happy. In between shouting expletives.

1. Well I think it goes without saying that I would be happy, thrilled and elated to be pregnant. I’ve been DREAMING pregnant, forcing my two year old to let me wear him in a Moby wrap for no apparent reason and drooling at every other lucky new mother’s tiny bundle of bundleness. So while all you sleep deprived mothers of newborns are saying, “God help me,” I’m saying, “I’ll help you. Give your baby to meeeeeeeeee…” Except not in a creepy way.
2. My sons giggling makes me deliriously happy – he has the best sense of humor around and can almost always make me smile, even when he’s the one making me frown, too.
3. When the pants are loose, the pounds are dropping and the energy is UP – that makes me happy – or it would, if it were happening.
4. Baking cookies makes me happy – it might defeat the possibility (probability?) of #3 but I make really good cookies. I’ve almost never made a bad batch, and really, even the bad batches still taste good.
5. A house would make me happy – with a picket fence and a covered porch and a swing set. And a doggy inside. And sidewalks that lead to nearby parks, playgrounds, libraries and cute little village shops in the perfect quaint town. Since you asked. Basically, Stars Hollow.
6. New episodes of Bones, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Fringe & America’s Next Top Model make me happy!
7. MM napping makes me REALLY REALLY happy. Or at least happier than when he doesn’t.
8. When my son says, “Really?” when something good happens to him, it makes me happy. He is picking up some new mannerisms from I’m not really sure where recently and some of them are really cute.
9. Having a matching set of kitchen chairs would make me happy – particularly nice chairs with non spindly legs that will stand up to the test of toddler. And be cute.
10. Having my own domain name makes me happy – and the working, efficient server part is nice, too. I love typing ten less characters to get to my blog and knowing it’s mine all mine!
11. My husband’s homemade pizza makes me happy. It’s out of this world, just like most of the food he whips up out of thin air. The man is amazing.
12. Finishing a good book, or starting a good book, or curling up in the middle of a good book makes me happy.
13. COMMENTS. Comments make me happy – comment on my blog today and end my bad mood!
