It’s time for another Aloha Friday, the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. As you should know by now, over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
So I really want a new car. It won’t happen any time soon, what with our finances and me not wanting to be homeless and stuff, but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming, does it? So this week I’m asking you to fuel my daydreams a bit and tell me:
What kind of car do you drive? Do you like it or loathe it? Why? If you could buy yourself a new car today, what would you get? Why?
My answer: I drive a 2002 Toyota Corolla. As a college student, I loved my car – it was tiny, turns on a dime and can park anywhere and it gets excellent gas mileage. Add just one very tall husband and a toddler (and a toddler’s stuff) and it is a bit cramped. We do okay – we still travel in it and dh doesn’t gripe as much about the leg and head room as much as he used to when we first married. But now we have a second child coming and it’s going to get even more cramped – like the second seat in the backseat? We already use that – which means we’re going to have to cut back on things that go there. A double stroller? Not even remotely an option with nothing else in the trunk – nevermind adding groceries, diaper bags, etc. So that’s just not an option. I don’t like not having the option. And like I said, we’re cramped already. Don’t get me wrong, we’ll make due – it’s what we do. But it doesn’t stop me from complaining. The cars I’d love? A Honda CR-V, a Volkswagen Passat Wagon, or maybe a Toyota Matrix. So you know, if you were thinking about buying me a car, those ones wouldn’t be awful…
Okay, you’re turn! Tell me about what you drive, what you wish you drove and why.

I have a 2003 Town & Country van and love it. Definitely would buy another down the road. Hubby’s car is 10+ years now and we will need to replace that.

I drive a Nissan Altima. It is ok. I don’t love it. I think that it has more problems than I think it should but I guess I am up to almost 100,000 miles.

My first 2 cars were Corollas, they were great little cars that I pretty much drove into the ground.
I now drive a 2008 Saturn Vue Hybrid, which is only 9 months old. I love it. Love the gas mileage, love how it handles, love the spacious cargo area. It’s a downgrade from a Ford Explorer and while there are times we miss the larger cargo area, the Vue does the job. The one thing I wish it had is 4 wheel drive but I’m getting used to not having it again. Since this car is less than a year old I’m pretty happy with it, so don’t have any dreams of another one.

I had an Acura RSX a few years ago and loved it. It was small, sporty and fun to drive. I traded it in for my SUV Mercury Marinour after my son turned two. I don’t hate my car but don’t love it either. I didn’t get leather seats and they are stained from the kids and it isn’t anything fun to drive but it gets us around and it is almost paid for so it will be around for a long time.
If I didn’t have kids I would have my Acura again…loved that little car. If I could get a new SUV it would be a Honda Pilot (fully loaded). Much nicer than mine.

I’m in transition with this actually but I’d say my car is a Ford Taurus. I bought it new and it’s 12 years old now. It’s actually parked at the end of my driveway buried under snow with a dead battery. LOL

I drive the good ol’ minivan. A 2002 Dodge Caravan Sport. We call her the silver bullet. She’s old school – no auto side doors or trunk, no built in dvd player. My husband’s philosophy is that’s one more thing that can break. It would be nice to have those seat warmers though. I love it – easy for the kids to get in and out of, holds everyone plus an extra friend or 2.

I’m driving a 2006 Dodge Durango. We bought it before the gas prices skyrocketed because we have 4 kids and 2 big dogs and make frequent road trips to visit family. I really love it, but my dream car, just for me would be a BMW convertible. Not gonna happen, but that’s ok.

I have a VW convertible beetle, cream with a black roof and I love it. My hubby bought it for me a few years ago and it is my pride and joy after my children. Though it wouldn’t think it was at the moment,as it really needs a wash. Sadly, I have even given it a name – Harvey.

I have a ’00 Chevy Venture she’s an older quirky gal but she works for us (knock on wood) for now. Plus it’s paid for.
I really haven’t thought to much about what new car I’d like to have. Those hybrid half mini van half suv are cute but they don’t have the automatic doors…and that’s almost a necessity with 3 kids.

I have a 02 Sebring. I’d love to get me one of those European diesel hybrids, though. You know the ones that get 65+ miles to the gallon! =)
Happy Aloha Friday!

My second car I bought was a toyota corolla! How funny.
So I drive a ’04 Toyota Sienna minivan & I love it. W/ fully automatic doors it was a life saver when Hanae was a baby. Now it has so many miles on it that I’d love to trade it in for a newer one but I’ll have to drive this one into the ground. It’s great having all of the leg room plus cargo space. I hope that you get your dream car soon!
