Weekend Diversions: Poladroids, Super Me, 50 People & The Random Phenomenon

I’ve got some pretty sweet stuff lined up for this week’s Weekend Diversions, a little bit of everything to cure your weekend boredom. So let’s get started, shall we?

Remember back in the day when Polaroids were like the norm and you’d tell yourself that shaking the picture while waiting for it to develop was FUN and everyone had their own opinions about how to get it to develop quicker or better or whatever? Well if you are missing the days of Polaroids, you can relive those glory days with the Poladroid a fun, FREE application you can download to your computer that lets you drag a photo into the “camera” and a few seconds later a digital Polaroid will drop out which, after it’s developed you can either print, save on your computer or shake around on your desktop, pretending you don’t know it’s done. You can wait (and wait, and wait) for it to develop, shake it, whatev. I discovered that I am very impatient and saved my picture THREE times before it was done developing – which is cool because now I can show you the progression of the development like I planned it or something:

The next cool thing I found was this web video project called 50 People One Question. Basically, they had the idea to go around and ask 50 people the same question and film their answers. The result was a really cool video (well videos, but I’m only posting the first one, because I want you to have enough time to browse ALL of my diversions, so no one can say they weren’t given a fair amount of fanfare. But if you want to see the other video, too, or more information on 50 People One Question, just click here). In the meantime:

Moving on? Jen @ Stuff Jen Says posted about this cool Hero Factory thing where you can make yourself into a superhero. It was actually a lot of fun selecting all the different options and feeling like I was all bad assed and important. But then kind of lame when I got the name General Shredding Blade. You have to admit, that’s pretty terrible. But look how awesome my comic book cover is!

Okay, last things lastly. Unless you’ve been living under a rock or don’t use Facebook, you’ve probably read or been tagged for the 25 Random Things meme. Never one to turn down a good meme, I promptly filled it out, but was surprised at how MANY people filled it out also, even the ones who did so begrudgingly, as though they were too good for a meme or something. I think they were just embarrassed because they don’t have a blog and thus haven’t been tagged to do this a gagillion times already in the blogsphere. Poor blogless people. We should start a program, like Sponser a NonBlogger. With just 5 comments a day, you can make a difference in this poor person’s life. Have a heart.

Anyway, my point is that this thing has gotten so freaking huge that seriously the Washington Post ran an article about it, essentially succombing to peer pressure and writing a 25 Things Meme as their article. And it was awesome. You should go read it now. And then go to your blog and write 25 random things about you or someone you know, then tag 25 people to do the same thing, and it’ll be like a revolution or a movement or something and we can all sing a few bars of Alice’s Restaurant and then WALK OUT. Who’s with me????

OMG, I refuse to do the 25 things because it just annoys me. I’ll gladly join in another sort of revolt against it though. Have I told you how very much I love these weekend diversions??

OMG, the 25 Things Meme! Yes, I’ve been tagged…and tagged for a Birth Story one too. The funny thing is that I feel like everyone already knows everything there is to know about me….because I have a blog.

Hmm…you just gave me an idea. Maybe I’ll make my 25 things meme a POP QUIZ! And people will have to guess which ones are true and which ones are false. I like it!
