30 weeks? Seriously? How is that even possible? That number looks so large and so close to 40. I am for sure at that part of my pregnancy, you know – the third trimester, where it’s not really fun anymore. That 2nd trimester where I feel mostly amazing and unstoppable has ended. The waddling has begun. The oh my god, I am uncomfortable has pretty much become a permanent state of being that seems like it’s always been here even though I’m pretty sure it’s new. So you know this week is pretty much more of the same with the added fun of cramps and back pain and seriously having a hard time getting up out of chairs. People waited a long time to start but they touch my belly with abandon now. Fun times.
Anyway, here’s the nitty gritty from babycenter.com. My little baby is now about 15.7 inches long and weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). I swear she feels massively bigger than that – it’s shocking to imagine how much bigger she’ll get before this is all said and done – where will she find the room? A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Huh maybe that’s the answer? Her eyesight continues to develop, though it’s not very keen; even after she’s born, she’ll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she’ll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.) But you already knew that didn’t you?
