Aloha Friday: What Are You Reading?

It’s time for another Aloha Friday, the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. As you should know by now, over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My reading time has not surprisingly shrunk dramatically since BB was borm It’s taking my approximately a month to finish one book these days (before BB I read about one book per week just to give you an idea). I’m kind of longing for my old reading days, the thrill of a new book, etc. I’ve been reading The Baby Fat Diet for weeks now, and 10-10-10 before that. This whole non-fiction thing is seriously not like me at all. I am normally a fiction only kind of girl and I’m looking forward to eventually dipping into a really good story. So indulge me….

  • What are you reading right now?
  • What book do you WANT to read next?
  • What new book have you found that you think I should definitely read at some point? (For a glimpse at my reading taste, you can check out the books I have read this year and last year.)

  1. I’m reading Perserverence – a new release I’m set to review this month…it’s about the perserverence of childhood cancer survivors. Amazing!!!!

Next up I’d like to read Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes (written by a mom)

  2. I am having a slow reading week, so I can only imagine how you feel with the lack of reading. I am trying to read The Girl Who Stopped Swimming and struggling through it.

I have just worked out I need to read 28 books in order to finish all my challenges this year.

  3. I am trying to get through a Nicholas Sparks book, but I am so focused on my blog that with 2 kids it leaves NO time to read….so sad when I used to do nothing but read 🙂

  4. I am reading Little Children by Tom Perrotta and LOVING it. Highly recommended. Actually I can send you my copy when I’m done, if you promise to send it on to someone else if you love it as much as I do. Of course I’m not done yet so maybe I’ll hate the ending, it’s happened before.

Next up is Catching Fire, which Jon is picking up for me at Sam’s today. I’m also on the waiting list for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. In non-fic land, I got “how to talk so the kids will listen and listen so they will talk” from the library (that may not be the exact title but it’s close) and am looking forward to seeing if I can find a better way to communicate with my kids.

  5. I’m currently reading “Something Borrowed” by Emily Giffin. It is for a college class if you can believe it. My professor wanted us to form book clubs (it is a Reading Theory course) so she wants us to learn about the reading process. Anyway, I’m usually not a huge chic-lit book lover, but that is the only one that appealed to me. Have you read it?

After this book, I am planning to read “The Help” for my book club. I’ve heard so many great things about it so I’m really looking forward to reading it!

    Have a great weekend, Jen!
