Aloha Friday: The End of the World

Last night I had a really weird dream. There were tornadoes on the water (which I’m pretty sure makes them hurricanes, but in the dream we were calling them tornadoes and people were getting thrown into the twisters rather dramatically so there was really no time to argue about our vocabulary) and furthermore, apparently the world was going to end in 10 years. Seriously.

In the dream, all of this was just a fact. There was no, “maybe” – it was going to happen. The end. In the dream, my husband was very blase about this fact but I was just distraught. Obviously. I commented that our oldest child would only live to be 14. We’d have to deal with an annoying teenager and never even get to see him grow out of it. Unfair. Suddenly things like saving for college tuition and our pesky mortgage (you know that mortgage we’ll have someday if we ever buy this house) seemed pretty dumb and pointless. Things like the world ending tend to have that effect on people I think. I’m not sure since I’ve never witnessed the end of the world before but I’m thinking it’s probably a pretty big game changer.

My first real thought this morning about what I’d want to do in that situation was kind of silly. Disney World. I wanted to take the kids to Disney World before the world ended. Thinking big, I changed that to “All of the Disneys – let’s take them to every Disney theme park there is – saving a Disney Cruise for last.” That way, when the world ends at least I can be in a relaxing, happy place. Yeah, I’m well aware that this idea is probably a bit harebrained and likely to not pan out very well but since I’m hoping I won’t find out the world is ending any time soon that this doesn’t really matter. Point is – I should probably take my kids to Disney sometime before the world ends.

So my Aloha Friday question for you today is:

If the world was ending and you knew it and there was nothing you could do to change that, how would you live your life differently? Not just like “spend more time with family” – what kind of Bucket List thing would you definitely want to do while you had the time?

I’d turn off my computer and go back to “My Happy Place”. I haven’t been there in 3 years and I miss it terribly!

I wouldn’t change anything really. Just speak my mind more instead of always being afraid of how people will hurt/ react etc.

    Great question!

    Enjoy your weekend.

I think I’d continue just as I am. Ok, wait. I’d quit the blog.

I think I would just stop saving money. I would go on all of the vacations I want to go on now. I would go visit all of my friends that I am planning to visit some day in the future.

that’s a great question. I know you said not to say it however that’s exactly what I would do, quit my job and hang out with my family, especially if the world were ending. Most of the items I have left on my bucket list do not involve family, so I wouldn’t have the desire to check it off before the end. Happy Friday!
