One of the nice things about taking 365 pictures in 365 days is that I actually take a lot more pictures than that. I bet some days I take 365 pictures in a single day. Then I delete 327 of them, but still. A lot of great moments are captured. Except then I only post one of those pictures on my 365 project.
And sometimes I don’t get around to blogging the others. So some pictures get taken and then never really see the light of day. Wait, didn’t I say this post was about the nice things about my project? I’d better remedy this and blog some of those pictures that might otherwise be forgotten. And maybe someday I should make some new photo books. Hmmm… Any companies out there want their photo books reviewed?
In the meantime…
Did I tell you about MM pretending to drive Phineas and Ferb and his stuffed moose around town on Tuesday and me taking pictures because well, these moments cannot be forgotten? And then I thought, “How long has he had that little patch of dry skin around his lips? I hate when I get those – so painful. Try explaining to a 4 year old that licking his lips makes it worse. Yeah, they don’t get it.
Have I mentioned how sweet and motherly little BB is with her baby dolls? I especially love when she puts the dolls in their little doll car seat and then carries them around the living room. Unfortunately she rarely remembers to buckle them in so they slide around a lot and I’m worried that someday I’m going to have to build a Baby Doll Emergency Room.
Did you know that sometimes after I get the kids all bundled up from head to toe for the long trip to the mail box (seriously, it’s a pretty lengthy endeavor), sometimes one of the kids will do something cute and I’m all “WAIT! Let me grab my camera!” and they are usually like, “Actually, I was all done, and mom, it’s kind of hot in here because I’m wearing a sweater and a winter coat and hat and gloves and can we go now?” and I’m like “Not until you give me a real smile and look adorable again.” Sometimes it takes awhile.
The other day (actually, I know that it was Wednesday because I meticulously file all of my pictures by date which means a folder for each year, month and date, seriously, I am that big of a dork) MM ran out of his room and said, “Guess what, mom, I’m wearing THREE SHIRTS!” And then proceeded to show me each shirt and describe it in detail. Then I took a picture because he looked kind of like the world’s cutest farmer.
Then I ate soup.
So awhile back I read this post at Let’s Explore about 10 ways to play in January. I loved the list so much, that I printed it out and stuck it on my refrigerator. Yesterday I decided to try out #5 and stuck a piece of paper under the table, handed him some colored pencils and was all like, “Start drawing Michaelangelo! Mush!!!” What this really means, is that I went completely dorktastic and googled Michaelangelo’s Sistine Chapel and tried to explain all that splendor to my four year old and then was like, “And you can draw upside down, too!!! How cool is that MM???” And he was kind of like, “But it’s upside down…”
But eventually he started drinking the koolaid and got into it and you know I never did take that paper down and see what he was doing which possibly means I’m going to find things down there that I don’t want to know about. So maybe I’ll just keep ignoring that for awhile. But MM is super proud of himself now and kept telling his daddy how he drew upside down yesterday except he can’t really say, “upside down” and so it sounds like, “Guess what daddy??? I drew ruprightsrownd!!!!” Which might be even better.
Meanwhile Little BB was up to her own kind of awesome shenanigans. Like wearing a summer dress and snow boots simultaneously just because she can. Yeah, lots of pictures were taken. I also took pictures of her:
chubby shoulders and
the top of her head and
photographic evidence of her doing things she shouldn’t. Then I reprimanded her, I swear Dan.
Then this happened. I think this probably means she was calling her brother a baby, right? Like, “Oh poor baby, here’s a pacifier.” The sad thing is that he loved it. The sadder thing was probably that I took pictures. Which sent mixed messages when afterwards I was like, “That’s disgusting! Take that out of your mouth MM!”

I love your explanations for each photo. And, yes, every moment is a photo moment cause they are only young once. Besides, they’re also pretty darn cute!
