Daybook: May 30th

our newest family photo - May 2011

today…

Outside my window… I think Wisconsin decided it was summer today. We’ve had temps in the 80’s and humidity in the yuck! We spent some time outside today but not too much time because indoors was just plain nicer. This was also the last day my in-laws were in town so we spent some time taking pictures together with nice cameras, like that awesome family photo at the top of the post.

This weekend was spent with family! I don’t get to say that often so it was really nice. MM got to go swimming with his grammy and papa at their hotel several days this weekend which thrilled him as he just loves to be in the water. Dan and his brother got to spend Guy Time together, like playing video games and talking about stuff that only interests the two of them – and one of my sisters-in-law came also whom I just adore and it was really nice getting to spend time with all of them. A glorious weekend!

a few of my favorite in-laws

We also went to the Bratfest on Saturday which is a big deal here in Wisconsin. We had never been up until this year so I was glad we finally made it out this year and you know, it was a lot of fun. We were smart and went a bit early in the afternoon before it got crazy crowded – and when it did start feeling that crowded, we had already eaten some brats and fried dough, etc. so we were more than ready to take off. Perfect timing which is always nice. While we were there we saw The Wienermobile!! So of course pictures needed to be taken.

MM and his grammy and papa checking out the wienermobile!

I am reading The Help by Katheryn Stockett (finally I hear you all collectively yelling) and of course I’m liking it a lot – more than I thought I would if we are going to be honest as I’d been concerned initially that the dialect was going to be too much for me. If things like that aren’t done well I just can’t get immersed into the story, but it’s working out so far and very interesting and thought provoking.

I am reviewing… a couple of fun things right now like the Bounce dryer bar that sticks to the inside of your dryer (rather than using dryer sheets) and this really cool little dohicky called an Aqueduck that is kind of like a water slide for your bathroom sink that makes it easier for little ones to reach the water. BB is just the right height for this and I’m loving not having to pick her up to wash her hands now.

the aqueduck!

I am thankful for… that handy husband of mine (still) because the oven part came and he actually fixed the thing like for real, it works now and we don’t have to buy a new oven! Three cheers!!

A couple more pictures I gotta show you: did you get a look at the dress BB is wearing in our family photos because I am just in love with it.

frolicking

such a gorgeous girl

Love the pig tails and cute cute dress.
I may have told you before that I couldn’t finish The Help…I know…I hang my head in shame. I think I just couldn’t take the craziness of how they were treated then. I did enjoy the book, it just may not have been the right time/mood for me.

@ Nancy : We use a step stool already lol – but she is still too short to actually reach the water. The aqueduck extends it just closer enough that she can reach now.

That aquaduck is really cute! I find stepstools work well too. 🙂 Though I could see keeping one in my purse for restroom sinks that are too high.
