Today
Outside my window: it’s another beautiful summer day. The weather lately has been perfect for eating outside, taking long walks through the neighborhood and just enjoying the great outdoors. This morning was just chilly enough to warrant a sweater or light jacket as I took the kids back to Picnic Point for a morning walk.

I really love walking here – it’s a perfect 2 mile walk with a gorgeous view of the lake and just enough little spots to stop and take a break, take a picture, etc. to keep things interesting while getting in some exercise. And a truly fantastic photo op!
This weekend: was another big productivity weekend. We got pictures hung up finally, fixed some broken stuff, cleaned some dirty stuff and handy Dan made me a laundry table for the basement to fold laundry, etc. And did I mention that he also finally finished patching and painting the ceiling in the kitchen and we now have a light above our kitchen table again? Cause yeah, he totally did and it’s awesome.
Right now I’m reading: both Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese which my book club discussed last week and I still haven’t finished but can’t put down ; and The Hour That Matters Most by Les Parrott, Stephanie Allen & Tina Kuna about the importance of the family meal which I’ll be reviewing here soon.
This week: is kind of monumental because my little boy is starting kindergarten on Thursday! Where does the time go? Sometimes I am so excited for him and cannot wait for Thursday and then other times I am so nervous and apprehensive about the idea of him being gone all day and having this new exciting life outside of me and the very idea is terrifying and heart breaking but I know it will be a wonderful thing. And he is SO ready.

One last picture to share before I go: Can we collectively giggle over this picture Dan took with his cell phone at Shopko this weekend? I know I can’t stop snickering / swooning every time I look at it.
Well, hope everyone has a great week. September is going to be here before I know it and I have very conflicting feelings about this.
How about you? Are you eager for the fall to arrive or clinging to summer for all it’s worth? I am definitely looking forward to cooler weather, fall memories, pumpkins and Thanksgiving, the changing leaves and all the new adventures that having a school aged child will bring about.
But this is also the end of an era and part of me is a little sad and not quite ready to give up having my little boy at home all day with me. ::snifff::

@ Sue : I just dropped him off at school (well, drove there to meet him after his first ride on the school bus (he said it was very fast – hehe) and I’m proud to report there have been no tears yet, though Dan did have to drag me out of the classroom. Why can’t I go to kindergarten WITH him? :O)
The whole cold enough for jackets thing seems to be on and off again, which is typical for Madison I guess. It’s pretty warm already today and temps in the low 90’s predicted.

Kindergarten already? Where has the time gone? My oldest started hs back at the beginning of Aug (hard to believe my kids have been in school for almost a month!) but thinking of MM going to kinder reminded me of the Prince in kinder. He loved it & I missed him dreadfully. The good news is we survive, eh? Can’t wait for pix!! (hint, hint)
sigh, I would dearly love to have cooler weather but alas, we’re dealing w/ nasty snakes & temps in the 90’s. It will be quite awhile before we need jackets. Enjoy these cooler days for me, yes?

Lovin the pics this week!
I can’t even imagine what it must be like to need a light jacket on a late August morning, that must be like heaven. We’ll need light jackes mid November if we’re lucky.
As for this boy of yours starting kindergarden I am excited and nervous for you. Can’t wait to hear all about his big day.
