My favorite time of the day.

Every afternoon, BB and I walk to the bus stop together to get MM. We’ve typically had a busy morning running errands or going on playdates together – we rush to eat lunch so that she can nap on time on Tues-Friday (Mondays are early release so our whole schedule gets thrown upside down) and get enough sleep before Big Brother comes home in all of his boisterousness and excitement.

But for that short fifteen minutes or so that we spend walking to the bus stop and then waiting for it to arrive, time stands still – or at least crawls at a leisurely pace for awhile. That walk, lately, has been one of my favorite times of the day.

We’ve had beautiful weather lately and I love the intimate one on one time that she and I have together on these walks. Time slows down for twenty perfect minutes or so as we linger down the street, picking up sticks or rocks or whatever is interesting her that day.

And then when we get to the bus stop, I inevitably end up taking a gazillion cell phone snapshots of her outfit of the day. I act like the paparazzi, crawling on the ground to get interesting angles, close ups of her footwear, an intimate gazing shot – all the goods.

This outfit features some of my favorite things:

  • Her Barley & Birch tee which we got last summer and still fits her perfectly. I love their long sizing that really lets you get your moneys worth of organic cotton cuteness.
  • Pink legging style pants that rouch a bit at the ankle – so adorable.
  • Paired with a denim skirt because she can pull off this look and her mother can’t and is forced to live vicariously.
  • Perfectly adorable little kitten socks that make me swoon a little.
  • New tennis shoes that feature a fun floral print, big pink laces and a handy side zipper so I can get them on and off of my on-the-move girl without any muss or fuss.
  • The look is finished with a messy bun of sorts that I think gives her a bit of a ballerina-esque look that I am loving but happened because she started to run away before I really finished getting her hair up – so I quickly improvised and let go and then decided it was way cuter than the standard pony tail I’d been planning originally.
  • The blunt bangs and long strands that fall down and frame her face are just icing on the world’s cutest cake.

Am I the only one living vicariously through my child’s wardrobe and who secretly loves the bus pick up time so far? Ask me again how much I like it this winter when it’s frigid and icy.

She is adorable, as always! I would probably live vicariously through my little girl’s cute clothes if I had any girls 🙂 so enjoy it! As for bus stops, I’m jealous for now as I have to wait 15 minutes in a steaming hot car pickup line to pickup our little guy for now BUT eventually we hope to be able to walk the mile both in the morning and afternoon (just gotta wait for this endless summer thing to fizzle down first).

In church yesterday there was a family sitting in front of us w/ two little girls dressed in such darling little outfits (not too fussy & frilly but just right for busy little girls) & their hair was done so adorably & I looked at my daughter & was a little sad that I’ll never get to do that part again. Take Tons of pix! And yes, BB is a little dolly.
