time out

Obsessing over: a new (to me) game on my phone called Song Pop. It’s basically “name that song” but ridiculously addictive and you can play with random people online yet it requires very little interaction with said strangers and it’s very minimal on the “nag your friends” side. And it makes me feel like my vast and diverse love of music is actually worthwhile and productive knowledge! And you can play it on Facebook, too, if you don’t have a smart phone!

Feeling: a little bit overwhelmed with chores that need to get done. Just getting back from vacation, replacing our refrigerator and all our groceries and carting the kids from one activity to another while battling a head cold has left me with precious little time to get things done and when I do find the time, I find I’d much rather catch up on my DVR or play on Facebook instead. Funny that…

Working on: cleaning my home, getting MM ready for the upcoming school year – my baby is starting first grade! I’m looking forward to getting back to our fall routine and establishing new routines with BB but also apprehensive about the year to come and hoping that MM enjoys it as much as he enjoyed kindergarten and that he gets a good teacher this year.

Thinking about: ways to revitalize my diet and exercise routine. I admittedly fell off the bandwagon HARD while on vacation and I’m only just coming to terms with the fact that I am nowhere near recommitted to it yet. I’m not sure how I feel about that and what I plan to do about it other than acknowledge where I’m at.

soon to be first grader

Reading: Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner, a chick lit novel by one of my favorite authors about “four very different women intertwine in unexpected ways in this new novel by bestselling author Jennifer Weiner (In Her Shoes; Best Friends Forever). Each woman has a problem: Princeton senior Jules Wildgren needs money to help her dad cure his addiction; Pennsylvania housewife Annie Barrow is gasping to stay financially afloat; India Bishop yearns to have a child, an urge that her stepdaughter Bettina can only regard with deeply skepticism until she finds herself in a most unexpected situation.” I’m about 100 pages in so far and really enjoying it.

Anticipating: some fun events with my women’s group coming up, my 6th anniversary with the Hubby and the upcoming school year. Is it weird that I’m sort of looking forward to sweater season? I don’t want to be cold I just want an excuse to wear knitwear again.

Listening to: the kids playing. I really need to put them to bed soon and start the whole bedtime story / tooth brushing routine but they were playing (mostly) nicely and I thought I’d steal a moment to update the old blog with current stuff.

Drinking: nothing at the moment though I had a glass of water with dinner (and a can of coke zero not long before that…)

Wishing: that I could be silly and irresponsible for a little while. Spend money on fun things for myself, travel (I know, I’m crazy) and eat all the delicious food I want without the guilt. And maybe be child free for some of that time? This is my wish and it’s only half hearted because I’m equally looking forward to really getting back to our routine.
