What I’m Into Lately

Red rubber rain boots with stripes and tutus and Elmo winter hats. Weather that can’t make up it’s mind. Little girls who can’t make up their mind. Puppies who can’t stop chewing. This is my life right now. But I thought I’d take a little time to quickly blog about some of the stuff that I’m into lately, inspired by The Snugly Duckling.

What I’m reading:

The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling for my book club this month. So far I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, it’s so obviously Rowling in the writing style which I am enjoying but the characters leave something to be desired in that so far there are no likeable ones. It’s kind of like a world full of nasty muggles. That said, it’s a bit funny and I have hopes that it will get better.

I’m also reading Bringing Up Bebe by Pamela Druckerman on the side and enjoying that one a lot. It’s a nonfiction musing on the differences between American parenting and French parenting and very interesting and well written.

I’m not making very quick progress with either book at the moment due to sleepiness by the time my head hits the pillow each night, but I’m hoping to get to bed earlier this week to give myself more reading time. Cross your fingers for me!

I’m kind of all over the place right now with New Girl, Idol, Project Runway, Pretty Little Liars, Greys Anatomy, etc. but one of the new shows I’ve become hooked on is The Face which is a reality show on Oxygen that is like a cross between America’s Next Top Model and The Voice. Models get mentored by famous models like Naomi Campbell who are vying to be the new Face. Like most reality competitions, it’s got a lot of drama but it’s equally as interesting as Top Model and Project Runway.
Movie I’ve Seen:

Dan and I rented Skyfall this weekend and it was kind of amazing. A perfect mix of classic throwback Bond and new, amazing Bond. The visual effects were awesome, the stunts were amazing, the storyline was solid. I definitely recommend this one.
In my ears:
I’m kind of obsessed with Stay by Rhianna right now. Her voice is just gorgeous and the song is beautiful. I bought the MP3 on Amazon which to me is the true measure of a song these days. Downloadable = awesome.
Items of Note:

Picked up some bratwurst spur of the moment this morning for dinner. Delicious, it has been too long. It is synonymous with warm weather but today we just thought warm thoughts and enjoyed a delicious dinner.

What I’m Looking Forward to:

Puppy training classes start this weekend along with a much anticipated wedding (and another equally anticipated one next weekend). Add in a game night, team trivia and book club and it’s shaping up to be a fun month.

what are you into these days? Let me know in the comments below!
