In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that you take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. She’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
My question this week is:
What’s your favorite fall recipe?
We just made sweet potato fries last night, and mashed sweet potatoes the night before and I have to say they were fabulous. I love how cooking styles change as the seasons change, we suddenly crave new different foods or have new different foods in season. What foods do you love cooking in the fall? Do you have a special dish just for this season? What great dish will you be whipping out come Thanksgiving? What’s your specialty?
Wheat bread. I’m looking forward to making bread again.

Sweet potato casserole…
5 to 6 large yams or sweet potatoes
½ cup butter
½ cups orange juice
¼ cup real maple syrup
¾ cup chopped walnuts
Cook sweet potatoes until tender. Drain and cool to touch. Peel. Chop into small pieces and put into a 9×13 pan. Melt butter and add orange juice and maple syrup. Drizzle this over the sweet potatoes and stir it up to mix it up. Sprinkle the copped walnuts over the top and bake at 350 for about 30 to 45 minutes or until it is hot and bubbly.

My favorite food of all time is pumpkin pie, drowning in Cool Whip!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I still haven’t figured out how to make an absolutely, flakey-perfect pie crust, so if anyone out there knows, please tell me!!

I like to make Pumpkin Roll this time of year. I must have that Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cake recipe, AngelForever! Although I’m quite sure it won’t help me in my quest to be looking fine by 2009.
