So today is the big day. Halloween. I’ve been very excited about Halloween this year especially because we decided to make my son’s costume – I am no seamstress and had never thought we’d be that family until my husband learned he is ridiculously good with a sewing machine – apparently it’s all numbers and equations in his mind but his stuff – it comes out good. He can knit, too. And bake bread. I know. Are you done giggling? Point is, my son’s costume is amazing and looks like it could be store bought in my humble opinion. Pictures soon I promise. So here’s the itinerary for my son’s third Halloween, in which he will make his debut as The Man In The Yellow Hat:
I’ll be Professor Wiseman thanks to my father’s wife’s mother who got me hooked up with a fancy shmancy lab coat, which is pretty much the only part of my costume and probably nobody will get it, but just trust me when I say, Professor Wiseman, she rocks. It’s gonna be awesome. Or legen…dary. You know, whatev. Oh right, itinerary:
3:30pm: Arrive at hubby’s place of business to steal him away, using cute kid in costume as a distraction for his bosses.
4:30pm: Arrive at the in-laws to show off said cute kid and take a quick walk of the neighborhood, because it’s one of those weird neighborhoods where all the neighbors know you and care and want to see you.
5pm: Find dinner? Wendys?
5:30pm: Go to my dad’s house to show off cute kid AGAIN and rest our laurels for 2.5 seconds.
6:30pm: Arrive in ye old town of Rutland for Main Trick or Treating Event. Visit one aunt, one grandmother and one great aunt while in town.
7:30pm: Head to Bestie’s (mom of SB) new apartment for a par-tay of sorts, sort candy, steal any inappropriate candy and drink soda and eat junk food.
?pm: Arrive home too late with cranky sugar high toddler and then tell him he has to go to bed and can’t wear his costume. Endure screaming and shrieking for far too long until we all pass out.
So, anyway let’s get down to business shall we? You know, Aloha Friday business.
This week my question for you is:
Do you love or loathe Halloween? What are your plans for tonight?

[…] a trip, we did get a pumpkin and some cute pictures. We’ll definitely go back next year. That Halloween MM dressed up as The Man In The Yellow Hat (a costume we made) and the whole thing was a big hit […]
I love Halloween. We handed out candy.
That’s a lovely photo! I’ve never been to a pumpkin patch before.
We love Halloween! We had a nice Halloween party at our village clubhouse followed by a fun trick or treat.
Cool blog. I’m from MA, but live in NH now.
Yah!! I got to see MMs costume first, and he’s so cute I wanted to take him home. “Go hug your mother-in-law” yahooo! i got one. I can’t wait for you to put your pictures up so I can savor them.
I love it because it’s probably Baby Puppy’s favorite holiday. And, my itinerary looks a lot like yours!
I am not really in love with the trick-or-treating aspect of Halloween. I think so many kids are out there that just want candy and to cause trouble.
Tonight I was with my parents and my two boys (hubby away) and we went around the block here and that was it. A very quiet night, but the boys had fun.
I like Halloween. I love dressing my kids in cute costumes and parading them all over my friend’s neighborhood (our street pretty much sucks for T-or-T). I especially like it on the years the moms stay home to hand out the candy, like this year! We happened to go to the mall today so got to see lots of little ones in their adorable costumes.
Wait til you see my post about Halloween in Hawaii! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halloween in Hawaii!
I don’t mind Halloween as long as it is kept in good fun. Since I have small children, I don’t like the scary part of it. Keep it clean and I enjoy it
I like Halloween…we’ll just be taking DS to go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood with friends.
Can’t wait to see that costume! Have fun today and tonite! We really enjoyed our celebration!
@ Jen : It was a very good movie and like I said, I considered it scary, but I think scary movie buffs would not.
We definitely won’t be able to do the driving around thing every year, but we’re really showing him off more than we’re trick or treating at this point. 🙂 Your plans sound lovely!
I remember the days of driving the cute toddlers around to show off their costumes. It was hectic, but fun! Now we just stay close to home because they get out of school so late.
I do really enjoy Halloween! Our plans are pizza for dinner and then trick or treating. Maybe my husband and I will watch a creepy movie later but I haven’t decided which one yet.
PS I love The Village!! I think it is on my Top 10 favorites list!
I love Halloween, and I love homemade costumes! We trick or treated last night so tonight is going to be a relaxing evening enjoying some of Bobby’s treats–he’s too little to eat most of it anyway 🙂
I used to not like Halloween, it was kind of pointless from the age of 14 on. Now I love the idea of dressing up my children and showing them off.
And you know my plans for tonight because I am going to be joining in the bottom part of yours. Yah, mini party!!
I love Halloween, mostly. I like dressing up and the trick-or-treating but I really don’t like it when people try to make it a gore fest or slut fest.
I really enjoy Halloween because the kids love it. Tonight, we’ll be doing some trick-or-treating with the kids, then it’s a scary movie with popcorn!
We love Halloween! We are hosting a pre trick or treating bash then heading out as a group to get more candy.
Can’t wait to see Curious George – what a great idea!
